AM Press Conference Geneva Motor Show 2012
Discussion
not really :-) ! (the content of the speech, not your email !)
it was more appropriate as an address to shareholders than the geneva motorshow, hence being so poorly attended - everyone knew he would have nothing to say
the only mildly interesting bit was the hint of special stuff for the anniversary - it did occur to me that dbs may be put back to be more powerful and launched in anniversary yr as true spiritual successor to vanquish

That was my point, just didn't phrase it very well in my original post. Seemed all a bit pointless even holding a press conference if you have nothing new to say!
All a bit embarrassing for AM really.
Surely could have saved a pretty penny and stayed at home. All a bit embarrassing for AM really.
It's better to stay at home and let people think you have nothing to show, than to show up and remove all doubt.
smacked off desperation - kept re-iterating that ONE 77 was now sold out and a profitable exercise and keeps banging on about zag which is a side project, not a flagship product. No other company would talk like this - when lambo do a reventon, porsche the RS 4.0 or ferrari the gto or aperta, they market it to customers discreetly, it sells out quickly, then gets shown to the world after no one can buy it, in one single debut, then barely gets mentioned again. That demonstrates true exclusivity, not this AM approach
Q is hardly something to centre your geneva show around and the 'new' vantage is not new. The vantage does not have bits derived from the motorsport division, it has bits taken from the S launched at last yrs geneva !
It's a sorry state of affairs.........

despite what my posts on this and couple of the other geneva/am future threads may imply, I've not given up on AM. I just think they have a very big yr ahead of them that will heavily influence the next few yrs
I also think they have one or more things up their sleeve which they were/are pretty much ready t show and for one reason or another are delaying - perhaps they are adding mroe power after seeing how everyone else is going, perhaps they knew they would never get great publicity against the new F12, lambo, etc, perhaps it's to showcase the zag in an attempt to sell it. Whatever the reasons, a very dissapointing geneva

Have some interesting information from a friendly factory person... Source will not be revealed nor will I stake what passes for a reputation on it, but the info came from a guy who works at the factory.
1) New DBS due in August. Proper muscle car and it has already been built. Odd it wasn’t at Geneva!
2) Virage to be scrapped and replaced with a DB9 variant. Also making room for Rapide production.
3) V12V Roadster. Not seen or heard anything.
Interesting I thought...

I imagine August will quickly become September, but interestingly Aston didn't have a stand at the last Paris show 2 years ago (or before that I believe), so that means if their name comes up on the roster that we're in store for something. Else it could be at one of a number of other events in the year, Monterey Car Week stands out as it happens in mid-Aug.yeti said:

on roadster, apologies to those that have read this by me before, but it's worth re-iterating that other than Dr Bez's comments that were repeated on here, no one has ever said anything whatsoever - no dealer and the majority of people at the factory appear to even have a hint of info on it. Just because Ian Minnards has been driving a prototype doesn't mean one will be built. Doesn't mean it's not happening, but I certainly wouldn't put money on it either
as for DBS, I have spoken directly to different people who have seen what I imagine is 'it' - they weren't sure if it was a DBS or a DB9, or for that matter what the name was. By 'it', I mean a physical car. Agree not sure why it wasn't shown at Geneva, but there are a multitude of potential reasons. Feedback from one was it looks good (the one that thought it was DB9), from the other that it looks great (the one that thought it was a DBS) - read into that what you will. Second person saw 'some ONE 77 influences in the design'
