Premium audio rear speakers dropping out
Discussion
I was on a long trip across state last week and the rear speakers dropped out. I set the fader all the way to the rear to be certain, and they were barely audible at full volume. This leads me to believe that it isn't just a short in the wiring--I assume that, in that event, there wouldn't be any sound from them at all. The problem lasted for a couple days, and has returned to normal for the last few. Any ideas?
This maybe related to an issue that I am persuing just now, which gives distorted stereo sounds when at speed on a nuggety road surface.
Apparently on bluetooth phone equipped vehicles there is a relay module that resides in the passenger footwell (on a RHD car anyway, I can't comment for LHD)). This has the job of switching the speaker inputs to be fed from the phone when a phone call is taking place rather than the stereo.
James (ex from Paralight) informs me that this is apparently a "known issue" where the relay contacts degenerate.
I'm awaiting a harness that he is sending me to wire the relay out of circuit to prove the point.
If this does turn out to be the culprit I will be quite bemused as no fewer than 7 attempts at various Aston dealers have so far failed to resolve this.
Ours is a Sept 2006 car (MY07) so would be a similar age to yours, although ours has had this issue since new.

With the internal reflections in the car it's hard to be 100% sure when doing 50mph plus, however I'm 90% sure it's just left and right fronts that sound sste.
That corresponds with what the switcher module seemingly does.
I've finally got the bypass harness so will hopefully get a crack at this at the weekend. I'll take some photos as I go and report back.
