Q by Aston Martin

Seems Aston Martin will do anything you like to your car for a price now - http://www.astonmartin.com/q-by-aston-martin
I imagine there are going to be some horrific, tacky creations made - like this revolting matt blue Virage volante.
They're going to display 2 cars at Geneva too.

I happened to stumble across 'Q' on the AM website yesterday. Seems to be some wacky combinations - named after the seasons - Not really what I would have expected from AM... More like B&Q !I imagine there are going to be some horrific, tacky creations made - like this revolting matt blue Virage volante.

Ejector seats? Seriously though, I read an article from AM on this the other day and my first thoughts were also that this will lead to some nasty 'customisations' ... however in the hands of somebody creatively talented, some subtle touches could be added to really make the car unique.

Oh god no. Please let this be 1 April...
I foresee the Bentley Continental 'Footballer special' type affair happening now.
Yep, I can foresee the exact same things happening. Must to be keep it in line with Ferrari's Tailor Made service - http://www.ferrari.com/English/GT_Sport%20Cars/GT/...I foresee the Bentley Continental 'Footballer special' type affair happening now.

I suspect the untasteful ones will outnumber the tasteful ones tenfold though Seriously though, I read an article from AM on this the other day and my first thoughts were also that this will lead to some nasty 'customisations' ... however in the hands of somebody creatively talented, some subtle touches could be added to really make the car unique.
As for ejector seats, I think the link with James Bond by calling it 'Q by Aston Martin' is bad enough as it is!

I suppose I'm not that surprised about this development. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to visit te Rolls-Royce factory at Goodwood. The folk there mentioned that over the years, R-Rs have become increasingly customised, with that car maker encouraging their customers increasingly to select materials, colours, interiors and equipment which make the car truly bespoke. I guess it is how they have attracted the strong sales they have to the rapidly growing markets such as China.
I guess AM might be thinking Q will help move units in the markets where buyers want to be able to customize their cars., e.g. The Midle-East and China.

This does not really seem a surprise does it? Every manufacturer, especially a low volume Brotish one, needs to maximise revenue. The Porsche Cayenne and Ferrari watches and baseball caps all helped to improve the 911 and 458 after all!
Also, a friend of mine works at Aston. He told me you wouldn't believ the way some people spec their cars so perhaps this is an attempt to actually moderate some customers. For instance, there was apparently a woman from LA who got Aston to paint her car the same colours as her designer harlequin handbag - all the panels were different!

Wouldn't be the first manufacturer to do it - I give you the Golf Harlequin! Also, a friend of mine works at Aston. My mother was going to buy a Polo Harlequin when they were new. Thankfully the dealer couldn't get one in so she got a Pistachio green one instead. Why someone at VW thought that was a good idea is beyond me!George H said:
Agreed, that is fking awful. Hardly surprising from an Arab country though, they seem particularly skilled in creating horrible, nouveau riche style creations.
Most prestige cars that I see around the middle east aren't like this one. I think you're going to get no taste + lots of money in most countries.Slarti said:

It's a fair point - I used to see some abominations when I lived in Moscow, but of course you notice them rather than the non-purple suede trimmed cars!Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
