Hi all,

This is the Aston:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3687802.htm

I am hesitant about this car because for 17,000 of 21,740 miles, it has been used as a circuit car in which any Tom, Dick or Harry and the circuit instructor has been driving it at full capacity. I am expecting that the car will have some mechanical/ structural wear due to its history despite its servicing. On the other hand it is a low mileage, FSH, relatively low priced Vantage.

What do you think?

Thanks
Alex

P.s.

The track car is too expensive. It may or may not be a decent enough example, but try telling that to buyers when trying to sell it on.

The other two demonstrate that 5k or less can get one without the colourful history. If the track car was 25k or less, it might be worth considering.

I also hate it when people advertise a car highlighting things like "head restraints". FFS. List up the proper AM options it has and away you go. I would guess that the other two probably have 1k-2k in options that the track car doesn't.

Of the other two, check them out carefully (spec for spec, history etc) and then go with the one you like the most.

PS Don't get hung up too much on miles. A car that's used and serviced properly will probably have less niggles than something that's been used sparingly.

The Autotrader one was owned by a Doctor, don'tchaknow; so it must have been looked after! Really? How can you tell?

Does being a doctor automatically infer some kind of god-like driving prowess and/or the ability to look after a car better than a non-doctor?

Anyway, I prefer that one. I love the iron ore red interior, i've got it on mine, albeit in two tone Obsidian/iron ore.

I wouldn't touch the track car unless it was a lot cheaper.

Seems very expensive to me for what it's been used for and it will be tricky to sell on. There are 07 MY cars for only 5k more.

Thanks, I intend to contact the owner and see how flexible he is on price. If it is still for sale in a week or two then he may be realistic and accept a lower offer.

(edit: Beautiful Vantage btw! thumbup)

Take your time, make sure you get the spec you want, no point splashing lots of money on something that isn't spot on. smile

Happy shopping

as above - there are plenty to choose from ,so no need to buy track cars, or cat D damaged etc to save a few grand...you are just giving yourself a headache to get rid of later

spend a few quid more and get a straight car with a good history, dont worry if it has 40 or 50K motorway miles on it ..
