Seems that I got some wierd electronic gremlin on my V12V today.

After turning off and locking the car, the rear lights (brake light including the 3th light in the lid) stayed on. No matter what I did, I simply can't get them to turn off. Turned on and off the light switch, put the car in reverse and back in neutral/1st gear, unlocked and relocked the car several times.

I connected the car to the trickle charger but I'm not sure if the battery will be flat tomorrow morning given the brake light is on all night long...

Anybody had the same problem ? Any suggestions how to solve it ?

Hi could be a faulty brake light switch. I got mine replaced due to a similar fault

You can remove brake light fuse or put something under the brake pedal to lift it up.

Hi Martin, Phil (Mako V12V) had the same problem - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Update. Yes the brake light fuse has been pulled. AM in London were called who were very helpful. It's a known issue and an upgrade is available for the brake light switch which looks like is faulty.
Give your dealer a call and they should help get it sorted out for you.

And another one - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=111...

Sounds like it's the brake light switch.

Thank you gentlemen. I considered the manual and only found "F57 Brake light switch.". Is that actually the fuse to pull ?

Martin, the trickle charger probably wont be able to cope with the battery discharge from those ultra bright brake lights. I'd strongly recommend pulling the brake light fuse or flat battery you may have in the morn.

You could try lifting the pedal to get them to switch off or alternatively unplug the brake pedal switch until you can get some assistance.

I don't know for certain but that would sound like the one you need. Can't hurt it trying so would give that a go first.

On my V8 it's F57 too. If the V12 is the same, it'll be in the cabin fuse box:

You'll need to pull up the carpet in the front most part of the passenger footwell, you'll see an aluminium plate with a few torx screws in it. Remove those and you'll see the fuse box inside, they are the 'mini blade' style fuses. You need to look closely at the moulding to see the numberings but you're looking for a blue 15a fuse.

Lifting the pedal didn't help me (as far as I could tell, but pressing the pedal hard a few times did.

Hi again.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Pressing the brake pedal very hard for a few times did help so there was no need to pull the fuse. Will call the dealer this week to arrange a replacement of the brake light switch.
