V12 Breaking in...
Discussion
Wasn't really listening to the dealer when I took delivery .
Anyway are there any requirements for breaking in - I read that the car was limited to 6k RPM for the first few hundred miles. Is this true and does the ECU take car of everything?
Also is it fuse 15 (in the boot) that operates the exhaust baffle and gives you the proper audio track if removed? I need to find some tunnels (there aren't many in York).
Anything else I should be aware of other than trying to get the MPG into single figures

Hi David. I believe the car decides what the engine speed limit is for the first batch of miles....handy! I missed this stage as mine was at 3k when purchased.
And it's fuse 22 that sorts the exhaust although I don't think it's as necessary with the v12. I enjoy treating myself, if I'm good, to a spell with the sports button pressed and therefore the better throttle response and exhaust note!
As for single figure mpg, you'd need good traction as you need to plant your right foot firmly to the floor and temps/road grip still won't be great yet!
Enjoy trying though
Phil

Rather than thinking about breaking in the engine you should brake-in the brakes. The V12V has enormous stopping power but in the beginning the brakes can squeak quite a lot and the remedy for that is a couple of fast stints and some serious braking. Also, if wet just tip your food on the brakes from time to time as a sheet of water can delay the braking a couple of milliseconds.
Enjoy the drive.
Enjoy the drive.

Yeah, be aware you are driving a car that nearly made JC cry!.....you lucky lucky man!Anyway are there any requirements for breaking in - I read that the car was limited to 6k RPM for the first few hundred miles. Is this true and does the ECU take car of everything?

Congrats on the car.
The revs are limited for the first several hundred miles. That said, I wouldn't make a habit of bumping off of the rev limiter, especially during the break in period. I at least tried to keep the revs below 4-5K for the first few hundred miles.
While it is fuse 22 for older cars, for newer cars like my 2011 V12V it is fuse 15.
Oh, and you'll find that it doesn't take much to get MPG into single digits. She's a thirsty beast!

There is the tunnel at Leeds/Bradford airport which is long enough and straight enough for a decent run - and there's a roundabout at one end so you can go through a few times Also is it fuse 15 (in the boot) that operates the exhaust baffle and gives you the proper audio track if removed? Great car and just in time for some better weather.

Rex - do you know when it changed? I only ask as I took a 22 out of mine and it didn't make much differenceThe revs are limited for the first several hundred miles. Enjoy the V12V - now we're heading into spring and the weather gets warmer and drier you'll enjoy it even more as all that traction is easier to transfer to the tarmac
The problem is that these are not "normal tyres" but PZero Corsas with limited thread depth which means that they need to heat up and they don't disperse water very efficiently. Normal wet roads is not really a problem once the tyres are warm but standing water should be something to slow down for.
On the other hand, once warmed up on a dry road cornering is fantastic.

The fuse changed for most 011MY cars, the biggest increase in volume for the V12V is gained by taking out the parcel shelf and just laying it in the boot..... Try it
AM have just approved more mainstream P-zero tyres for the V12 (similar to DBS, but 19-inch) these will be a NCOS, or available to retro fit shortly.
The engines are bench run-in but clearly you have to sensible to bending all parts of the drivetrain etc, do a search as this has been covered in detail before and there was a good range of sensible advice from owners.
Now get it out the garage and on the road before tomorrows cold snap!!

Yo David, I´m still breaking in my V12 3 years in as I drive like an old fart.
Last time I looked it was still F22 for the exhaust notes, and I´ve only heard mention of F15 by Mr K and his V8VSR so not sure if it depends on the engine size or the age of the car.
I assume when you say V12 you are - in this instance - alluding to the Vantage rather than the bigger cars
BTW, great to see the blonde bombshell back on song. Bet you´ve never been called a MAN before, eh Di
