Just the shelf. Having just returned from the dealers to get the radio fixed (which is why she is a little dirty) I had plenty of time to look around. All the DB cars at Hagley had the rear seats. I totally and utterly do not understand why they are there.confused

My DB9 has seats (was it a delete option on the DB9, no idea?!) and I have no idea why, if and as and when you have 5 minutes would you post a pic of the shelf? I 've not seen one and can't help but think it's a better use of space.

Nice car btw mister!

2 reasons for the seats - insurance is less on a 4-seat car in some circumstances and it complies with company car regs that sometimes state you need a 4 seat car. Plus they will just about do for a very young family I think. Seats are also useless in a 911, Jaguar and California! Only Maserati know how to do a 2+2 if you need the seats.

I'd like my DB9 to have the seats deleted, I will at some point. Probably a job for Sarah Maynard's company in the future.

Yeah; but on paper, trying to sell it to the other half or your company... it's a 4 seat car wink

You should see the rears in a Volante if you think the coupe's are small!

Shelf looks great, definitely want mine converted. Not sure what'll happen around my tonneau area though, can't just rip it all out like you could ion a coupe... Hmm.

Weather it is true or not Audi told me when I got my TTRS that as a company you pay less import tax on four seaters !! ? thats why the squeeze the extra two in so as to make more profit. Still pointless for the people buying them.

Love the car Nick, love the colour - manual or TT ? - I´m guessing manual with the parcel shelf.

Surprisingly, I´ve always found the Vantage to be a far superior use of internal space than the bigger cars. However, I still love the layout in my DB9 and I would certainly advocate a swap if you ever get bored (which apparently can happen) biggrin

Shouldn't you be lounging about in the sun, drinking red wine rather than being on here? biggrin

Nick - I know it´s a DBS, and a bloomin gorgeous one at that - hence the clarification on a set up which is unavailable on a vantage!!

My observation was on space optimisation across the range and how people tend to hone in on the larger cars whilst failing to realise that the vantage is in my opinion the best laid out in the range.

Apologies if you thought I was being obtuse smile

Sorry my mistake. Never need to apologise to me. I must now remove the thread about your drinking issues.

I do apologise wink

Lovely looking car mate. If you want looking even lovelier or what to use on it yourself, let me know.

The rear parcel bins were never an option on the DB9. On early DBS coupes, rear seats were not an option; all DBS's had the parcel bins. Only later was the rear seat added to the DBS coupe (at the same time as the release of the 4-seat Volante variant). And now it is the parcel bin which is an option on the coupe, or so it seems.

Thanks for that, all I need is space to stand a scuba dive bag upright for that trip to the airport! Looks like that might do the trick. Maybe a conversion to carry a couple of cyclinders might be a goer too though for that weekend away to the coast :-)
