Hi all
I am probably going to get lambasted (again) for opening a new thread on a topic that's been discussed before, but in my defence the search fucntion is down.....

Am thinking about the necessity of installing a wind deflector in my car, hoping for those long warm summer days (!!) I have had wind deflectors in previous cars (of different manufacturers) and found them worthwhile, however my Volante is MY 2005, therefore no mounting points. I know you can by the deflector with the mounting kit, but was wondering how easy it is to be put in without having to pay "rather" expensive costs to have this done at a dealership....

Anyone with any experience in this areas/suggestions/advice? Greatly appreciated....

There's no mounting points? Are you sure? Mine has them, I had the wind deflector up at weekend.

Was this only introduced at a later date?

Thanks Hartley, fine for me up to about 70, but my long haired lass will probably need it at anything about 20!! (and no she won't wear a hat!!)

Wind deflector mounting points were only installed by the factory if the car was ordered with the wind deflector option at time of build. Many cars have mounting points but the deflector has gone missing over time and owners.

Made a huge difference up and down over the weekend, Not just blowiness but warmth in the cabin.

Sorry ghiemann, can't help with your question but you definitely need it - plus it adds a level of security for bags in the back seats, can;t just reach in, foils the opportunist .

I'd try the pre-mounting point kit, it's been onsale long enough that it should be fit for purpose!

Does make a huge difference. It's just a shame it looks a bit crap when it's up (imo). The car looks far nicer with no deflector. I wonder if they could do a nice glass one so it wouldn't stand out as much?

It's not the best looking but I only put it up at speed, I usually reach back and flick it up as we're about to hit the motorway / A road. Visioan round town is a lot better with it down as well!

911 (996) one is exactly the same design but it's a far, far better insulated car. I think the windscreen rail/window line is higher and it's a smaller cockpit, but a very comfy place to be top down in winter!
