I was thinking of selling my DB7 VV manual and my Cerbera and buying a 355 Spider. Went to look at one in the main dealers in Exeter with wifey and a mate. S.W.M.B.O didnt like it at all and found it realy difficult to get in and out of (serious back probs). Both my friends said they prefered the Aston and wouldnt change it for a 355. I was only thinking of cutting my running costs to one car.
My mates advice was to keep the DB7 and bank the cerb money. What do you think? Must say, I would shed a few tears if i did sell the cerb as i love it to bits.

How about a Tuscan Mk2? You get to keep the 'TVRness' of the Cerbera with the guts and open air feeling of the DB7..? Find one with a rebuilt engine, or was the S6 supposed to be sorted with the second Tuscan?

I flogged my 4200 and DB7 to get the DB9, there are alot of costs saved (if you leave them standard!)

And 355 wise, it'd be the GTS for me. Love the look and useability of the targa roof, though it's very heavy!

Could you not get an early DB9/V8V for the same money as a F355?

After thinking about it, I think Jockmans advice is best. Wait untill i am sure.
I wouldnt swap my VV for a DB9 coupe. I like the option of open top motoring and a DB9 volante i think
would be to expensive.

Did you drive the 355. Was it F1 or manual??

Flappy paddles. Did look nice though in red with cream hide. It was parked next to a 360 and it looked far better and a lot less bulky. After looking at the price of it I thought it was about £9k over priced. I know it was in a main dealers but it was on sale or return for a customer, not their car.

I absolutely loved mine. Red with Crema and the Challenge Grille which I love. The 360 is a pig. Oh if I had the money to have a couple of toys. Also IMHO that is still one of the best flappy paddle boxes around. I drove an N420 about a year ago and I didn't think that box was a patch on the Ferrari set up of nearly 15 years ago, again IMHO.

355 is epic. Berlinetta is the choice option. Manual.

Whilst I don't regret changing, after 5yrs in my V8 there are times I still miss my 355 - it's more of an "event" than the Aston. If someone who had owned neither wanted a view from me, and they could only have one and had to keep it, it would be the Ferrari.

My next change will likely be back to Italy for a 599. But will be a couple of years yet I suspect.

(btw, no disrespect to the V8V here...I'd have the 355 over a Daytona if a similar choice were put forward. All great cars, but 355s are lovely).

The rear buttress could perhaps be lighter but that's as close to a perfectly proportioned mid-engines car as anything has come.

I keep sniffing round 360s as they're more modern and you can see the engine, but the 355 is the future classic. Manual GTS, tan leather in TdF blu for me smile

Normally I agree with you but have to beg to differ here.

The DB9 might be good to some but i find its a car that excelsat nothing- the 355 was one of the best cars of all time, i subsequently had a 430 and would have chosen to keep the 355 over that- it is that uniqe

You had one so would know....I bow to your personal knowledge ..........I still believe you are less likely to encounter the nasty surprise big bill with the older Aston .......no cambelt service for example

I prefer the 348 to the 355, they can be had for not too much either. But, for £40k on a Ferrari, it would have to be a Testarossa yum

A really silly - borderline crass, borderline patronising - comment.

I went 355,360,430, on Ferrari and only regret selling the 355, 360 cheapest of the three now. N420 my first Aston and love it , great for more miles although I've only done 3.5k in my first year , still gonna get another 355 for those Ferrari moments may cost a few quid to maintain but at least prices are stable
