Price Paid against Asking Price at main dealer
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
At the back end of last year I test drove two of my dream cars, the V8V and a C2S. After just a few seconds I knew aston was for me but due to a slight change in circumstances I had to put of buying one. Since then I have been lurking in the background of this forum reading the many posts about the car as possible which has only further confirmed my choice.
In the next 1-2 months I will be in a position again to buy one and not feeling comfortable buying one privately I will probably be getting an approved used car from Aston Martin themselves.
My question is can you "haggle" the price at a main dealer and if so by how much (what was the asking price compared to what you paid or percentage of the asking price you paid)? Similarly if you can not haggle has anybody got some good upgrades etc thrown in. I know of a friend for example who managed to get a Bose system upgrade with iPod integration on his used porsche.
All feedback would be gratefully received

Have a look at Broadspeed . They are quoting 10% off RRP's. Printout their price for a car with your specs and use it as a bargaining tool - assuming they are not sourcing it through your local dealer!
I paid full sticker price with no part-ex! The fact I acted like a drooling imbecile the second I saw the car probably didn't help and we both knew I was having it as there wasn't going to be another like it soon, if ever!
In the early 4.3 market, as mentioned above, there really might not be much margin in it for a car that has been freshly serviced, warranted, costmetically touched up and wheels refurbed.
You can but ask though, there are plenty about and if you can manage to walk away, you have the power.

You seen the price of some of the optional extras ???£495 for rear LEDs ??
£395 for Front PDC ??
Wow
There's always a deal to be done! If you haven't got a p-ex then even better!
Of course, it varies from car to car - the margin and how long it's been on the forecourt being the main things.
I don't think I've ever paid the sticker price for a car, new or used, and the Aston was no exception.
I paid around 5% less than the sticker price for my year-old V8V, and the car had aready been on for 3% more than that before they dropped the price that week. I had a few things done on it as well (which you'd expect anyway TBH) plus got them to add 12 months tax. I was happy with the deal, which is what counts.

I am picking a V8V up from Strastones on Thursday!
They point blank refused to discount so I had to take a different approach of gettings extras. They ended up agreeing to armourfend/venture shield the front and side of the car and also refurb two wheels which weren't perfect but not too bad. In addition they are doing a voucher for half price service.
Good luck with your purchase.

Don't forget the pics. Is it Mendip Blue by any chance? They point blank refused to discount so I had to take a different approach of gettings extras. I'm not the best haggler in the world - I found it particularly difficult to hide the strings of drool on my chin when purchasing my dream car, the DB9. My experience was similar with Stratstone too. They refused to budge on price and even refused to tax it for a year - and it's a MY05 meaning it only costs £260 a year to tax! They point blank refused to discount so I had to take a different approach of gettings extras. I did get them to fix a few niggles on the car (which you'd expect as others have said) but nothing off the ask price.
Having said that, it has a proper gearbox (manual) and there was only 3 in the entire country for sale at the time of purchase - and only one of those were in a colour I wanted so my options were fairly limited
Sounds like its worth giving it a go but don't expect to much. On the plus side there is a lot of them for sale at the moment which puts me in a good position to walk away with comfort of finding another one if they don't meet the number i had in mind.
Has anybody got extended warranties i.e. two years from them or anything similar

It's midnight blue. Apparently the Mendip blue one sold the day before I went to view, which was a shame as I'd like to have compared.
P.S. Loving your new one!
Thank you. Me too Don't forget them pics which reminds me I must do a couple of non dealer ones of mine LOL. Just need to clean it and wait for some blue skiesP.S. Loving your new one!

My buying experience has been very strange indeed. I couldn't find that many cars as I ideally wanted 2007, 25k miles and around £35-40k.Has anybody got extended warranties i.e. two years from them or anything similar
The three dealers close to me had absolutely no interest. I tried four times to arrange test drives and they always let me down at the last minute or say that demand was too high for supply.
Based on that I was looking at private.
I viewed one private car, but the owner wouldn't let me drive despite me offering to purchase fully comp insurance for the day. The car needed lots of bits doing such as brakes, tyres, service and tax and the front end had been resprayed, so I walked.
Also I tried a indie dealer and the car was falling apart. Tyre pressure sensor errors, service messages, squeaking belts, lights not working and interior not looked after. The dealer couldn't tell me what warranty work had been completed and didn't seem interested.
I saw the two advertised at Stratstones so went to have a look. When I phoned up one had gone already... Stratstones were the only people who actually seemed to take me seriously and the car was very well presented compared to the other ones I'd viewed. Based on that I bought through main dealer.
