Hey all looking for some advice please. I’ve had the DB9 2 months now and covered 5000 miles, which has been fun! I’ve recently noticed quite a loud “whining noise” from the car on the outside, I’m guessing a transmission noise. Maybe because the weather is getting better now I’m having the windows open and hearing the beautiful engine noise more often, however I’m sure the “whining” was not so loud a while back?! Is this normal and something I’m only noticing now, or something that could be an issue?

Any thoughts and feedback appreciated. Car is 05my DB9 auto/flappy paddle

rofl You beat me to it. The noise certainly disappears in my car when Lady S is not on board.

I'm interested in the answer to this too. I've got an '06 DB9 (TT also, 14K miles) that has a screech or whine I notice between about 1000-1200 rpm. I tried applying some belt dressing on the weekend, but no change. In my case it seems to be worst within the first 5 minutes after startup; doesn't seem to matter whether it's a cold or warm start, in gear or in neutral. I don't notice it much after everything's warmed up.

Makes more sense, I've noticed the noise increases with revs and also when in neutral

easy way to test....start engine..leave in idle...get screwdriver or long metal implment and put it on top pulley....place other end against ear and listen...should be quiet...my guess is that you will hear a slight whirring noise...means bearing inside on it's way out...mine cost me 50 for new one and £80.00 to get fitted....
