Having now filled up twice in the V12 I've noticed that the fuel cap doesn't sit securely in the holder thingy... On my V8 it was a very snug fit and worked well.. With the V12 I find myself having to hold both the pump and the filler cap at the same time which is pretty awkward... Does anyone else have this problem? ... It occurred to me that maybe there's a rubber sleeve or grommet missing?? - Thoughts...

Richard.

It is not a problem that I am aware of. I will take a closer look at mine and see how it works. Might be worth posting a picture of yours just in case something is missing.

not a problem on mine either - pretty sure it is identical to my previous V8V.

Don't know if it's the same arrangement but it never fits that securely on my V8V.
One of these days I just know it's going to fall out and ding the wing!

I've noticed that my V12V filler cap does not fit very well (too large). Also, what's with the weight? Very heavy.

Richard - mine is a very tight fit and only goes on the end bit. I'm always paranoid it'll fall off!

Mine was so big that I had to screw quite hard. And I broke the nipple off. Much hilarity.

Snap. The V8V seemed to go deeper into the hole (oooo errr missus) But having filled up several times it never has and seemes to be secure enough, just not as deep.

Shouldn't this be on the porn board?

Hi John

Looks like yours might have a metal plate, or is that just a trick of the light?
The hole in mine is plastic. Checked again and there's no way the filler cap will stay in place unaided.

Mine looks like solid aluminium (its cold, so not plastic) with a countersunk hole. There is no plastic?? As I say, my cap does not go in as far as I rememeber my V8, but it goes in enough to be stable

I think what John meant is that the whole bracket is metal (painted black). That's what mine's like, anyway. There's no separate bit to go missing, just the hole as part of the bracket/hinge assembly, onto which is fixed (glued?) the actual filler flap.

Trying mine again, if I really push it in hard it stays fixed quite firmly. If there's any fault with your's I'd say it more likely down to the plastic bit on the filler cap rather than the hole into which it goes.

The hinge piece on mine is plastic, there's no metal in it at all [they must have chanmged the design].

I've spoken to the dealer who's looked at a V8 on the forecourt and it has the same plastic hinge as mine...

I actually think the problem is the 'Pin' that locates in the hole... mine retracts in to the body of the filler cap..

Could someone do me a favour and check the pin on their petrol cap and let me know whether its 'fixed' or whether its 'sprung' and retracts when pushed..

Thanks all...

Richard
