Many owners would like to do their own oil changes. I have viewed another forum where members quote a compatible Fram oil filter number to fit Aston engines.

A number of years ago, I viewed an in-store display where a Fram oil filter along with a number of other brands was cut in half to see how the filters are constructed. The results were shocking for a long time Fram user (me). The Fram filter had delaminated and collapsed providing very little filtering protection. The density of the Fram paper pleats was far less than some of the other brands. In my opinion, the best quality filter in this cutaway display was a WIX filter. I've never bought a Fram oil filter since then.

I'm in the process of trying to find a WIX cross refernce number for a 4.3 Vantage. Does anyone have such a number?

Why not just use the OEM filter? You only save a few quid/dollars.

Your right. The OEM filter is not that expensive from the right dealer. I don't save any time sourcing a WIX filter locally because I have to order the eleven litres of liquid gold online (no local AM or BMW dealer. Closest BMW dealer is in Ottawa and I would not buy anything from them because they tried to sell me $1,400 of aircon repairs that our Mini Cooper did not need. My closest AM dealer is in Montreal or Toronto (I'm equal distance away from both)

Bob check out eBay and or call a dealer and they can send the filter kit to you. That worked for me!

Also-I went the BMW route and got ripped off on the oil, so I feel your pain....although $150 all in for an AM oil change and only an hour time is not a bad bet!

The last time I had service done by an AM dealer was in Boston. The dealer was about an hour away from the wooden boat show my wife and I attended in Mystic, CT. The folks at the AM dealer in Boston were great.

I don't tend to take my V8V to Toronto or Montreal because we seldom spend a weekend in either city (both are great cities but we've made too many previous visits).
