I have seen several references to services for £250 & £450 etc for Vantages, for example Rick from DMS posted this on an AMOC thread last year, also the excellent book on Gaydon era Astons also mentions £450 services @ independants.

So far I have phoned Nicholas Mee who is my local (& is an independant for modern astons) & services range from £700-£900, Bamford Rose was similar to this. HWM are also nearby but are a main dealer so I haven't phoned them yet.

Is this a South East thing reflecting the higher costs of rent & overheads, or are there any places down here that have these lower prices? I have looked at what these services actually involve & the prices seem super high considering the work & parts done. I don't expect running the car to be cheap but am concious of trying to limit my expenditure to what is actually neccesary even if it means driving a bit further for service.

Remember Jake that some quotes may be 'plus vat', others may include vat - this can explain 20% of the difference. If the supplier is invoicing your company this can mean something.

Get a quote from everyone in a 100 mile radius, to include collect / delivery and self supply of oil options smile

Ah OK, handy... just checked the oil thing out & can buy 14 l of Castrol Edge for £140 from Opie, will call back to Mee, Bamford, Pugsley & HWM & see whether this is allowed & what difference it makes to price...

Jake - be prepared for HWM to be expensive. They are a good bunch of guys but prices reflect the Surrey location.

DMS is gone, I will probably go to another favourite indy of mine, PSR in Bishops Stortford

£450 is the cheapest I had at DMS for the most basic service, usually it was £550-600

add £200-300 if you go to a place with more expensive labour rate than £60 an hour...5.5 hours labour on a service makes a difference if its £60,80 or £120 an hour...or even £150 at a central London dealer

They have two service centres these days, one of them not on the expensive bit of real estate in Walton. Been setup to service older cars.
There is also Trinity Engineering in Cobham.
Stratstones Amersham are usually prepared to do a deal - good guys and official Aston Dealership

A £250 service for an Aston is a joke.....it costs more to service my grandmothers Zimmer frame ....deals are there to be had at main dealers ......minor service £450 +vat if you supply your own oil......bigger services £700 + Vat supplying your own oil

London dealers tend to have a 100-200 premium

I'll probably try PSR as well, especially as they are only 1 mile from my house!

Thanks, Bogie

I have a friend that works at HWM.

My car is due a service in April , it's the 40k Service (the big one).

The RRP is £1150.00, they are doing it for £950.00 inc VAT.

Put an Alfa badge on it and things take on a mysterious, if amusing life of their own! (one door that won't unlock when it's frosty, handbrake that freezes on, reversing sensors that sometimes work and sometimes don't, "automatic " windscreen wipers that are not really very automatic.... you're getting the idea)

I'd rather keep the Aston badge and take it in half as often.

Prices tend to be different as a lot of the services are different .

Which service are you due . (I can then quote you ).

I haven't bought yet, I'm in the research phase - could you let me know maybe by PM your keenest pricing for the services? Would appreciate it.

Also - some people seem to take their own oil in - I can't believe I can buy oil as cheep as a garage - would it be possible to reduce the cost of the oil to less of a premium price whilst still making a profit, but be less than I can get it off the interweb machine for?

Just budget between £650 - £1000 per service and get a car bought!

Probably of no interest to those in the south east, but I have just had my V8V serviced at Bridge Mill Motors in Macclesfield. The 5 year service was £445 plus VAT, and included oil and coolant change. In addition I had the brake fluid changed at £60 plus VAT. The guys there are very friendly and did a thorough job. If you live east of Macclesfield, as I do, you get the benefit of driving over the Cat and Fiddle to get there.

Just had my 5th year service completed by a dealer in the south. £750 inc coolant change and vat with me supplying the oil at an additional £80. I guess it's down to who your comfortable with maintaining your P & J.
