Vantage Sill Plates - What Colour to avoid Scratches?
Discussion
I currently have black sill plates on my Tungsten Grey Vantage which is a great colour combination but unfortunately whenever I jump into the car with my size 11's I seem to create more scratches and they now look a bit untidy.
Being anal about such matters, I can't live with the scratches so I'm getting the plates resprayed whilst it's in for a service (Chiltern Aston since DMS' demise)
I am thinking of getting them down to match the body colour as I think that will best 'hide' any future scratches, although it won't be as good a contrast as the black.
Chiltern Aston have already said that they will finish it in an extra hard laquer to protect the paintwork but even that's not perfect.
What are your thoughts? Does anyone else have the same problem?

Good choice... I have had mine painted to match the colour of my car and there are a couple of scratches on them already Again, my size 11's being the main culpriate...Being anal about such matters, I can't live with the scratches so I'm getting the plates resprayed whilst it's in for a service (Chiltern Aston since DMS' demise)

I am going to polish out the light marks and then have them wrapped in clear vynal.. This will stop any further scrathes

The only problem with vinyl is it looks untidy when you scratch it. I had that stuff you stick to the front of your car when I had a TVR (Armourfend I think) and looked ok when you first put it on but then looked untidy very quickly.I am going to polish out the light marks and then have them wrapped in clear vynal.. Chiltern Aston reckon that extra hard clear lacquer is better, but time will tell.
I do think that a grey sill plate will hide the scratches better, but that wouldn't really match your car!

the main door sills are annodised....any annodiser worth anything would be able to strip , polish out scratches and re annodise a colour of your choice.....i had mine done gun metal grey...
I went for ceramic laquer in the end as apparently it's easier to polish scratches out than annodisingI'd be interesting in comparing notes on costs though.
Paint + Ceramaic laquer = £350 +VAT
Annodising = £450 + VAT (but they couldn't exactly colour match to AML factory gun metal grey)
New Bright Grill 'only' £370 + VAT + fitting which actually isn't too bad to get rid of the milky stains and given the above pricing. (DB9 is £600+ VAT for some reason!)
If anyone's interested I have a pair of door sills that came off my V8V that had a few light scratches on them. I bought a couple of new ones from my dealer (which weren't cheap).
I hadn't thought of having them painted or anodized so if anyone is looking for some to experiment with then make me an offer.

Hi epsom james, I would interested in buying your door sills as i left mine at DMS last july to be re anodised, and have been given the run around ever since, obviously no chance of getting them back now, despite being contacted by kaye to say she had them and would send them, alas my car is now sitting there looking sorry for it self just let me know how much and we can sort something out.
