Car has been in the garage for weeks and covered up. Wife went in to start it up in preperation for me returning home on Tuesday to find it as flat as a pancake. I failed to close the door properly when I put the cover on what a plonker.

I have a charger that I can use to get it started but what other issues will I have to be aware off. Thanks in advance as I know this will be covered in num, erous topics but I am still at and meant to be working so cannot trawl through the threads.

Cheers in advance

If it has powerfold mirrors they will probably need re-setting, as will the windows i'd imagine. Depends how flat it is, but there's also a chance it will reset itself to KPH instead of MPH - which is always handy. Best bet once it's started is just pop it back to local steeler, go for lunch and pick it up an hour or two later with everything sorted - and no doubt for free if that's where you bought it from.

Yep, windows and mirrors will have reset.

If you have a jump pack to start the car with, attach it to the car using the engine point rather than on the battery. Leave it connected for a few minutes before you try to crank the engine over. Leave it attached after the car has started for about five/ten minutes so the alternator doesn't kick in violently and possibly fry the ECU (apparently).

I was advised by a friendly local AA man never to start an Aston from another car if the other car has its engine running as this can put an abnormal load on the ECU and also cause it to blow. He's never seen it, he's just had advisories about it, so I can't verify his claim.

Once it's running, drive it for as long as you can, but definitely more than 30 minutes minimum (or leave it idling on your drive, but why would you do that when you could take the gorgeous thing for a spin?)

To reset the windows once you've driven it. Engine off but key into position 1 and wind the window down as far as it will go and keep pressing the button for about five seconds, then wind it up and keep pressing the button for five seconds. Then do the same for the other window and that should reset them.

Don't know how to reset the mirrors though. I guess they are reset by reactivating the memory function on the seats i.e get them to where you want them then memorise the seats which should also memorise the mirrors.

You'll have lost all your radio presets too, but this shouldn't be too difficult to reset if you use the auto-tune function.

Possibly some other longer standing owners can either verify or shoot me down in flames.
