Just had a letter from the local main Aston dealer. Would I like to enhance my Aston with a new styling feature?

I binned the letter so can't give you the exact waffle, but essentially they were offering a "carbonfibre effect gear stick surround" and they thought that was worth writing me a letter about. It was priced at £450 + VAT!!!!!

The letter failed miserably before I even saw the price because they don't include a picture - who trys to sell a purely styling 'enhancing' product with no picture!

Shocking. I recently had the most appallingly written marketing email from my dealer, completely devoid of grammar or punctuation. What is the world coming to?

Bloody good effort!!
Another main dealer is selling the same part on eBay for £341 INCL VAT!!!!

Still VERY expensive though!

It does. Here:

A nice item but very expensive. I'm also VERY surprised by the huge difference that main dealers want for the same part!!!
But yes, very poor marketing attempt by your dealer!

That's funny I got one recently from my dealer offering to up the power of my V8V by 20Bhp and Torque by 10NM for a special 30% discounted price of,,,,,, £1945! I think it's the airbox and ECU upgrade one but my goodness is that a lot of money for a small gain.

When I got my baby my friend and I were sat in the customer waiting bit at the dealership reading the forms etc and taking the mick out of the dealer (in good spirits of course) "you know I've always wanted an Aston Martin cup for £40" sort of thing, I guess a lot of people who buy these cars do have more money than sense smile

As far as I recall my gear stick is surrounded by very nice aluminium . Why would anybody want a cosmetic finish in carbon fibre - I know it,s light but so is Bakelite -only it looks better . Emperor,s Clothes job biggrin

So it doesn't cast a reflection on the roof lining at night? Well worth 400 notes for that I'd have thought !

Thought it would have cost more than that. £400 seems like a bargin.

If you look at the very decently priced V12V and then the V12V Zag - for which said part was designed for.... you will see that almost every non-mechanical component is tarted-up CF raising the price a further £300K.

Just think of it....you could upgrade your 56 plate 4.3L V8 to look like one of the 150 V12V Zags piece by piece for a fraction of the cost of a real V12V Zag.

However, if they can offer me the Zag bonnet to fit my V12 (for which I have enquired but recieved no response as yet), I will be tempted.
