I've spotted a car (finally) that seems to tick all the boxes but it is in Glasgow and I reside in Bournemouth. I was wondering if anyone could kindly have a look at it if they were nearby to ensure that everything was in order before I make a rather long journey!

Many thanks in advance and hopefully i will be a fully fledged member of this forum shortly smile

Regards
Andy

Hi Andy,

I'm in Edinburgh (c40 miles away). Happy to meet owner here and have a look at it, although you would be much better having it looked over by the dealer here if you are serious on buying it.

I have a V8V so will only be familiar with that model.

Hi Lewis

Many thanks for your reply.

Thankfully it is a Vantage. It is at an independent dealer called Scottish Motor Services Ltd. I will have it inspected by Aston as well but dot want to pay out for that if anything is obviously amiss. I will gladly cover your petrol to get there smile

I live round the corner from Scottish Motor services.

I'm no Aston expert but I can certainly look round

Stunning...... Do yourself a favour, have the car checked over by the local AM garage in those parts before you part with any cash... Get them to do a full top to bottom health check, then wait for the results.

I did long distance buy with mine and didnt get it inspected (like a dumb ar$e) could have saved myself a lot of agro and expense.

If the car comes back with anything that will cost you £££ have the indi garage pay for the work, then before it leaves Scotland, have an AM warranty put on the car just for added peace of mind...

But other than that, some sunny days in Bornmouth with the top down.. Life will be good... biggrin

I ve been following V8V Roadsters for a while & recall that, before xmas there was a black with black wheels car for sale at a scottish dealer that had had a colour change from silver - a 5000 pound main dealer job I think they said

It could be a completely different car of course, but worth asking the question, as for me it was a complete no no

Echo advice of burnout, especially with SMS Glasgow. I too was a dumb ar$e, purchased a Vanquish and acceped what i was told/misled; aftercare was nil and warranty was worth nothing ("It's the same underwriters as Aston use", on receiving paperwork had a 1K limit - that will fix a lot on a Vanquish).
"Have the indi garage pay for the work" Ha, once it left the forecourt they had nothing to do with me (appreciate burnout means before). Brakes failed completely (dodgy MOT),gearbox playing up, and other niggles. They settled out of court at last minute for all I had to repair, but took over a year. Oh, and they didn't HPI car (another lesson, HPI yourself, I didn't as it was a garage and assumed they would have checked before taking in as stock). Had finance company trying to take it back!!

for future reference a simple and quick way of checking out the vehicle is to ask who has undertaken the services and give them a call....they should be able to give you some history (or all the history )on it

Bit of a thread resurrection, but good grief! Shocking!
