Paint Protection

ventureshield ...or any supplier using 3m film I guess
but the paint needs to be perfect and swirl free...preferably new before you put it on...otherwise you are sealing in, imperfection
with perfect paint and good film, you can barely tell its there...but you dont want to be putting it on top of chips or swirl marks
when you get it done, done polish with anything that leaves white residue either

Cheers Bogie. Sadly the car is 3 yrs old so I guess I would be wasting my time but the paint needs to be perfect and swirl free...preferably new before you put it on...otherwise you are sealing in, imperfection

you are going to be sealing in 3 years worth of contamination and any tiny marks
hard to tell really without seeing it
you could get it detailed by a pro, and paint correction, then immediately get the film on it...if there are not any significant chips
to be honest, the only time ive had it done, is after a respray or from new....I would have it again for sure
...although my 6 yr old Vantage doesnt have it - I got it with 6k miles on at 10 months old and it its peppered now

Apron, Bonnet and Wing front package is about £725.00 plus VAT. In comparison, to paint the front end would be nearer £2500.00 plus VAT.
Thanks for the info Steve. I assume I would need to get it detailed first? My old V8V in Mendip Blue got peppered in two years hence my enquiry. And then I go and buy a black car. I must be nuts!!!This is a tricky one to answer. With my first Vantage I had the bonnet, wings and rear arches covered in film from new. There is no doubt that the film works as you can see where incoming missiles have struck. Despite the protection the downside is you lose the lustre of the paint. Whilst driving to Le Mans we picked up a stone chip in the centre of the bonnet which not only left a crater but sort of skidded up the plastic. To be honest for me that was it! The New V8S was out, I had a chip that no amount of vinyl could protect so I changed the car. My S has now done 3200 miles, the last 500 at great pace. There is not a chip to be seen! No film! I reckon for what it costs and the limited protection it affords it is not worth the outlay. I would stress that this is my opinion.

+1 I had it on my last car (inherited) and the prep was not greatbut the paint needs to be perfect and swirl free...preferably new before you put it on...otherwise you are sealing in, imperfection

On the new one I had all the correct prep before it went on.
Get the full bonnet and the full kit that extends the rear arches
I was advised to tape the edges when I polish it
£800 for front splitter, front bumper, headlights, full bonnet, mirrors, door handles, full sills, extended rear arches, top and bottom of rear bumper
See if you can spot it
