Can I pressure wash engine compartment?
Discussion
Just read a thread on this, not sure if it was this forum (jeez, think I was a DB9 owner, I'm getting senile! ) and the general consensus was no, not a good idea for the reason you mention. Maybe some buckets of water, or a low power hose to remove the salt, but keep off the electrics.
Done it loads of times with no problem but be sensible.
Use a cleaner like Muck-Off or similar and agitate this over the engine with a soft brush.
This reduces the amount of time you need to use the washer.
Spray quickly and obviouly avoid blasting things with wires coming out (there aren't many) and you should be fine.
You can then spray the engine with a product to make the job easier next time.
Might be a bit premature until this weather Improves?

I do my engine bays regularly
I'll email you a PDF on how to do it
I'm guessing your is covered with salt after last week, mines bad enough
I'm doing it come what may this afternoon, I had a couple of bad experiences with salt left on aluminium

I've used a Karcher steam cleaner to clean my engine bay (a brilliant piece of kit for the home) and it comes up nice and clean. I can't say I would ever risk a pressure washer anywhere near the engine or electricals.
Pressure wash the underneath of the car though to remove the salt deposits.

I had thought about that Rob when I saw the pictures - that now have disappeared???? Have I missed something in the last few days... The first thought I had was 'opps what about the salt corrosion - They say sand gets into EVERY crevice don't they. I think a long drive on a VERY rainy day would help get into all the seams and joints to kill the salt along with a clean of the engine bay.
