have heard a couple of comments suggesting the gearbox is the weakest link in that car - it's effectively a beefed up 6 spd sportshift based on the one in the Vantage, but apparently it isn't the easiest thing in the world to master in the first few gears with all the power/torque from the ONE-77 engine. Not that I've ever driven one !!!http://autos.yahoo.com/news/watch-a--1-7-million-a...

any supercar with a clutch and gearbox is hard work in traffic. And getting out of aparrallel parking space would be very difficult indeed
No clutch with a sportshift - that (I think) is the point of the videoBut yes you are right of course - remember driving one of the first DB9s with a manual box (RHD), in rush hour traffic, in Barcelona - not fun ! Actually looking back it was, but quite a lot of sweating going on at the time,,,,,,,

I disagree. I drove an F430 a while back, which is relatively old technology, and it was very easy to drive, and like any automatic in the auto mode. Rex Racer said:

As for 'is a 911 or say a Vantage' a supercar - that's a whole other debate.............to which I change my mind as to my opinion every time I think about it

Try a newer 911, it will soon change that opinion for you As easy to drive as a Ford Focus, IMO But then again, I have never had a problem with an Aston either ?
I did about half a dozen 3k+ mile European road trips in that car, splitting the driving down the middle with a mate. You really had to concentrate - anyone familiar with the spanish slipways onto their dual carriageways & motorways, often up a hill with a very short run-in onto the main road, can imagine the fun of a biting point which is basically on or off with no inbetween, a stiff gear lever and a very heavy clutch
But huge huge satisfaction from getting it right

I know I fire off responses which can be curt at the best of times but honestly, there are only two lines up there, one says CLUTCH and the response refers to automatic in auto mode ! I despair..........
Guess I responded a bit quickly but the One-77, which is the topic of conversation, has two pedals, not three so it's not all my fault. Rex Racer said:

Getting back OT, I don't quite get why, but as I say, I've heard from a couple of people that the gearbox is a handful in the lower gears despite having no clutch (well an automated clutch to be precise)
