So very proud of myself

You may have seen this thread on "General Gassing" where they feature and discuss the Carbon Edition DBS

Well there is some numpty on there who posted the following about 11 posts down
"Coming to the marble driveway of a Premiership footballer near you soon.
Sorry, but this is just tacky. And don't start me on the chavy halfords rear lights.
By all means replace items (eg roof a la M6/M3) to reduce weight, but just bolting on carbon all over the place is pathetic.
1/10"
I was so close to retaliating especially when I looked at his "Fleet" and previous cars and noticed the total lack of anything remotely interesting.
Its the Premiership Footballer tag that really gets me.........Green eyed monster, what do you think?
Think everyone thought like me and it was best not to give him the pleasure of a response.

Georgeous H is in there, fighting for the Marque !!
I was just curious to how people could be so stupid. It looks like a Peugeot interior. He couldn't have picked a car with an interior that looks less like an Aston's. Even proven by the picture of one someone posted. Words fail me.Some personal highligts of that thread:

It amazes me that it costs so much for a car to look so cheap & dated.
Cheap and dated? I may be biased towards AML, but cheap? Where the hell has that come from? BingoBob said:

Quite a display of open-mindedness there. Not travelled much then? Obviously Mr Bingo you lack an understanding of self-deprecation and humour......I can recommend some suitable books to bring you up to speed

You are aware that those in General Gassing (ie every PH memeber)can see the little pocket forums for specific marques aren't you? so by doing this you have retaliated only in a less confrontational, more cowardly way.Its the Premiership Footballer tag that really gets me.........Green eyed monster, what do you think?

To look at someone's 'fleet' and 'judge' is more pathetic than any of your critique's of his opinion, whether jealous or not, whether a footballer or a capatin of self made industry, not all are lucky or skilled enough to afford/own such exotica... that said, owning a 20 year old Honda won't stop me forming opinions on cars I'll never own, as I assume it doesn't stop you.
I'm here to critique cars not the people.... although it seems I've made an exception here to make the point.
Problem is, even as an Aston owner & fan, I think the poster had a point, even if I don't particularly agree with the way it was phrased
DBS has been out a few years now and they launch a Carbon edition with a bit of cosmetic tinkering, whilst the new one, which will have between 550 & 600 bhp depending on which report you believe, will be 200k + (an Adventador can be had for 250k new, a 599 for 180k, both of which are significantly better cars despite the 599 being replaced with a genuine all new car next month). It is outdated and it is indeed bought by Premier League footballers - Alex Gerrard's wife was photoed in her DBS volante recently, Wayne Bridge pictured buying an AM for his girlfirend last month, most football grounds' players' carparks are full of AMs
Like I say, I love the brand but the poster was factually not a million miles away. Don't agree on the rear lights.....
Also I don't see why you should be proud of not responding or am I missing something - if you had an opinion, why didn't you stick up for yourself & the brand rather than skulking in a corner then self congratulating yourself on the AM forum for ....... doing nothing ? Sorry, don't quite get it.....
More importantly IMO, biggest mistake was Aston allowing the press to do reviews on a minor cosmetic change special edition / run out model, when the changes are so small, as it was always bound to end in dissappointment - the most a review could ever say is that the DBS is aging ok and the cosmetic stuff is quite nice - was a hiding to nothing and a major booboo from the AM PR dept

Either that or the PR team are simply trying to say 'Don't forget about the DBS, it's still relevant - we promise!'
I'm sure that was the intention, but I think it had more chance of backfiring (sending it to the press, not the launching of the model) than being a successEveryone, for some while now, in some instances fairly and in others not, accuses AM of not doing anything 'new' for ages, having dated models that are falling behind the competition, so what do AM do ? They tart up a DBS and send it out to the press - not the smartest of strategies

Cowardly? It's an internet forum, there is neither cowardice nor bravery here! He didn't stoop to the OPs level on that post of jealouy and spite. That's what he was pleased with. You seem to have popped over in potential 'stooped' mode. Welcome To look at someone's 'fleet' and 'judge' is more pathetic than any of your critique's of his opinion, whether jealous or not, whether a footballer or a capatin of self made industry, not all are lucky or skilled enough to afford/own such exotica... that said, owning a 20 year old Honda won't stop me forming opinions on cars I'll never own, as I assume it doesn't stop you.

And your post smacks squarely of snobbery as well, perhaps inverted, perhaps not, I haven't looked at your 'fleet'. I don't care what you do or don't own, or as is often the case with PH, cars people claim they own. Someone with an AM or an experience with the brand or similar is probably better equipped to comment on the brand than someone without any concept of what a high powered, luxury car is like?
Critique away to your heart's content, but when someone posts that a 510bhp hand built car universally recognised as one of the world's finest GTs - if not finest cars full stop - is dull or the interior looks like a Peugeot, that's not an opinion, that's just moronic.
