Hi everyone, I have noticed my front near side side light has blown but I have no message on the dash telling me to check, is this correct. Plus how hard it it to get the lttile bulb changed, is it a trip to the dealers?

Thanks

DH

Just had mine done by the Dealer under the original warranty, David - I note that yours has expired.

It is a tricky area to get into and a special type of bulb is required smile

Not sure how you would know that wink

OP - Have a look in the manual, it is usually very good at describing bulb replacement.
If it doesn't go the Jockman route wink

tricky one....there are 2 x clips you have to poke with a screw driver to release the bulb holder...be careful not to scratch paint work...the later versions...push and twist clear lense cover....mine went...a right pig of a job...got so bad thought about the hammer and chisel solution but managed to get to the bd in the end...

I have the used approved warranty I wonder if this will cover such things? Best have aloof before I head to the stealers!

+1

They even give you a tray of spare bulbs in the boot, with no easy method of replacing them.

Lucky Quinny's not on the forum or he would have hit the roof smile

What happens if one of the LEDs in the rear lights goes? Can they be replaced, or does the entire unit need to be changed?

Quinny is a very knowledgeable AMer from the TVR mould - bit like your Yeti, Bogie, sMurph, Lady Topaz guys and gals.

Dispute with mods led to him leaving the forum frown

BTW Georgeous, I believe the entire unit needs replacing if one fails.

Do you mean the one in the headlight unit or the side repeater?

The point of using LED's is if one fails you still have lights. No you can't replace them individually, you would have to replace the whole unit. However, if its only one LED why would you replace the unit. LED's have a far longer life than standard bulbs, so theoretically you should never have to replace the unit.

Unfortunately, the light units have not been designed to be waterproof, hence the number of posters on here regularly asking, as the whole light unit fails.

No - it's a bulb replacement.

Getting to the bulb is the tricky bit smile

UTTERLY off topic, but how did Aston become the new TVR? Or did the TVR owners grow up have a bit more cash and realise it's the only other front engined /rare driven 'Brit Bruiser'?

The sidelight bulb is a 501 W5W ABD Capless Wedge Bulb. According to the OM you can get at it by removing a plastic cover inside the front of the wheel arch, but I reckon you have to be a long armed contortionist to succeed. It is much easier when the car is on a lift with the wheel removed.

You can get Long Life versions of the bulbs

Is it??

I too came from TVR ownership....... And I seriously considered a Morgan, before I settled on the vantage.......in fact it's still an itch that may need a scratch in the not to distant future..... Especially as the wife keeps saying, that the AM is a bit mainstream, why not get somthing with some real class....smile..... She may have a point..
