Massive PI$$ED off rant!

I have spent many hours of my own time making a cleaning product guide for everyone to use and it was on here 5 mins and was taken down because i was "advertising".
Good christ, the previous product guide i did is in the FAQ's for **ck sake, i just thought i would write a bigger, more indepth one this time round and i needed to change the links to the online shops anyway.
At no point was i advertising! Everyone who posts on here knows what i do, ive detailed a fair chunk of the members cars for god sake and the last guide was found to be very helpful to people. This one was designed to be even more of a help, as it was more detailed and also covered cleaning the leather etc.
You try and help people out and some mod thinks he needs to flex his muscles and pulls it! Not a happy bunny at all.
So two things can happen here. Either its put in place of the my old product guide in the FAQ.s (which wasnt advertising either) or people can email me if they are interested and i'll send them the guide via email.

I for one would love to see it. I googled around to try and find a good cleaning guide the other day as I'm about to have a go with my own electric orbital machine thingy and am a bit nervous about it!
Can't see how it'd be advertising from my point of view as you're a bit far away to be of any use anyway!!
Let's hope a mod sees sense and lets it go live.

I can see where you are coming from Paddy and TOTALLY agree. I certainly have read your previous cleaning guide and find it VERY informative and can HONESTLY say at NO point did I consider it to be advertising. If an owner chooses to contact you to use your services then great..I wish you were nearer to me (NW Norfolk)because I certainly would be using you..That said I enjoy cleaning and tarting about with my P&J and am ALWAYS glad to have the FREE advise of a professional such as yourself to do the best job possible.
Maybe with enough support the Mods may allow the post to go back on...Come on guys...lighten up !!

Thanks for the support guys. Like I said, everyone knows what I do, but I try and help people out if I can. It's not about getting more work for myself, but without sounding sad, I feel part of this little Aston community so as such, I like to help out where I can.
If im not allowed to put it back up, then I'll email it to all interested members.
I did have a look through and one of the pics had my van in the back ground with my number on it, but that has since been changed. If it carries on like this, I'll have to go underground like the A team!

Francis, thank you for all your practical and useful advice. Your product endorsement is very minor to the advice and support you have provided. I hope the Moderator reviews thier actions and reinstates your thread - after all you were not touting for business, rather the reverse. An extreme view would say that this forum is advertising Aston Martin...... I hope they see sense. Add me to your email list. Best wishes, Stephen
I posted in the mods forum too when my Sarah Maynard bits post was taken down, again, supposedly advertising even though I'm a paying customer to her and have no connection.
They reinstated it no problems, the mods are generally doing their best for us all. Have you ever been on sixspeedonline? It's just a mass of advertising and full of paid sponsors who force their opinions on the threads. Any disagreement with a sponsor gets you a ban I have on authority...
So be glad PH is as it is and I'm sure Francis' thread will get put back if he makes a reasoned argument to the mods, and it'll hopefully be as a sticky

Now, there is no advertising for my business in the thread and yes, there are loads of swissvax products in it still, but they are there because i find them to be the best at what they do and i have nothing to do with the company.
The only pic in the thread that couldve been classed as advertising, was one with my number in the pic, but thats been changed now and it shouldnt have made any difference anyway, as people can just email me if they want to talk to me.
Hope it stays up this time. I will get a couple of better "action" pics for some of the products too.

Hi Francis, I for one am ever grateful for your detailing tips and the efforts you go to , however I have just checked the FAQs and all seems as before, I have been eagerly awaiting your update and checking it most days so if it doesn't reappear would you please forward me the new list.

We don't remove links to annoy members, it's done to avoid the forums becoming used too much for advertising by companies/ individuals. Too many threads like this can make the forums less of a nice place to be (nobody wants to see PH dominated by ads) and will also open the door for other people to join simply to promote themselves or their services if we allow them to stay live. I'm not suggesting you are doing that, more trying to explain why we enforce the rule.
Detailing is a difficult topic as many like to see the results acheived or wish to seek out decent companies to use for their own cars. To help, we set up the free detailers 'wiki' in the detailing forum and we also allow images to be posted too, as long as no direct links are made to company or product websites. On other areas of the site it's different, and when a member who is involved in the business of detailing posts large threads, it's easy to assume it's being done to raise awareness of their company. We do take a different view if the poster is simply showing off the good work someone has carried out on their own car where we use our discretion and may leave them up.
I realise it's frustrating to have a topic removed, but I hope that explains things a little. Drop me a line via email if you would like to chat as I'm about to go offline, but I'm happy to continue the conversation if you wish to.
