This has been bugging me for the past few days. What is the little leather slit thing in the centre console used for?

Not the best pic but this is it:

Sure I've seen it described as a credit card holder?

Thats the first thing I though of when I saw it. Not sure why you would need a card to hand in the car though?

Holder for AA and fuel points cards. All part of the Aston holistic design ethos.

That's the only thing I've ever used it for.

The thing I use mine for is toll tickets when driving across the continent, it's pretty perfect for that.

it's almost certianly for toll tickets and works very well for those types of tolls where you grab one ticket at the start and pay at the end when you come off the toll, though hood down, I do find myself double checking the ticket is in firmly !

How very American, a valet ticket smile

Old style interior doesn't have it, I'm quite glad. Think my toll tickets go in the (obviously unused) ashtray quite well!

I agree, there are plenty of other storage areas in the car, why bother with a valet/toll ticket holder. That must be up there with the most pointless features fitted to a car.

I shudder to think of anyone smoking inside their Aston. What a horrible thing to do to such a beautiful car.

Absolutely.

What figure would you put on the reduction in value of an Aston which had been smoked in ??

£5k ?? smile

I'm awaiting some 'pipe and slippers' joke from the V8V owners...

Certainly does make a car less appealing. When I was looking for a Merc SL, I looked at one where someone had smoked in it. Absolutely vile smell, couldn't stand to drive it.

Damn it you beat me to it....does the mouth piece end of your pipe not fit into that slot George? you could have your pipe collection on display if mounted correctly....
