I've noticed an annoying buzz like a blown speaker cone at a certain frequency (about 500Hz at at a guess) coming from the speaker at the front of the door. It might be rattle from the grill, but I can't pinpoint it and I'd like to find out what the deal is before I try to get it sorted under warranty.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks.

PS. It's a 2009MY.

If it is under warranty , just let the dealer look at it , never seen a blown door speaker , but have seen loose connections , and loose fixings before.

Someone on another thread said that the wiring loom can touch the speaker and cause this. Sounds like you are confirming that. I will let the dealer look at it. Thanks. thumbup

Mine does this too, very annoying. I think mines the speaker grill rattling, if I put a finger between the dash & speaker grill it stops buzzing.

I did notice that if I tapped the door card of the offending speaker it seems to get better briefly, but I am half convinced that was my imagination.

Had mine replaced under warranty. This is not an uncommon problem.

Had mine replaced too under warranty. Dealer told me that's sometimes the screws they use to fasten the speaker in place are a little long allowing them to contact the door or panel. Whatever it was, it was fixed quickly and been fine since.

Just another one of those niggly things that seem to be a "common problem" but must be costing AM a fortune in warranty work.

Got the dealer to look at it. It's 95% cured the problem. A hint of buzz occasionally at the resonant frequency of whatever is vibrating. The tech isolated 3 potential sources of vibration (wires / looms) inside and insulated them. I will see if I can live with it. I'm being hyper sensitive to it at the moment.

Fixed this on mine over the weekend, The buzz / rattle was coming from the fibre board that the tweeter is mounted to, rattling against the metal bracket. A couple of adhesive foam pads stuck between the two and problem solved. Just wish I'd done this years ago.

Once fixed on the drivers side I noticed the passenger side was also doing the same. Be careful when removing the passenger door card, the cable to the window switch is much shorter. Better to ease the door card away at the bottom and disconnect the plug before removing the door card.
