"Say hello to my little friend" smile

I'm a happy chap. Just been on a cracking 40 minute drive. It's rather icy and the orange traction light was on quite a lot, but the grin inducing noise, poise and grunt has brought back all the memories!

Its good to be back biggrin

Very nice indeed smile Which insurance deal did you go for in the end? Did you manage to get a further discount?

Thanks smile

I've not insured it just yet, I'm on a free 7 day policy for now. Will decide once I'm back from a work trip end of Jan.

Too cold to give her a good polish and wax! evil

Very, very nice Greg. Sportspack as well smile. I think that you have stolen that from the guy.

So what does the exhaust sound like now after a 40 minute drive?

I guess you got the payment sorted then..

I did a bank transfer for the full amount yesterday morning and sent the chap a text to say so, and then didn't hear anything all day! Kinda pooped my pants till 8am this morning when he text me to say it had just left on the transporter! Phew!

The seller is a really nice chap and it was a pleasure to buy from him, but you can never be too careful when buying privately.

I did get a cracking deal, must be the best priced 4.7 ever sold in the UK and it's mint.

The quicksilver supersport that the chap had fitted does sound really nice actually, but I don't think it's as loud or throaty as my last 4.3 roadster sounded with fuse 22 out on its std exhaust. Might be the coupe roof dulling the noise though I guess.

BamfordMike has confirmed that the original exhaust is still at his place, and I think I'm going to have it refitted along with the BR manifold and sports cats. I like having the ability to switch from quiet to loud mode on the fly.

I'm not usually one to tinker with my road cars, but I'd really love to improve the throttle response in this car. I think the manifold and cats will transform it into a much more fun car to drive.

Off to clear my garage out to make room for her! smile

Lovely car Greg - even dirty - and it looks a good spec too !

I don't think it's just the coupe roof dulling the exhaust. IIRC, the actual exhaust positioning is slightly different on the roadster smile

Its done 26,000 miles. Slightly more than I'd have liked, but the condition is superb and the previous owners garage and house were like a show home run by an OCD clean freak - the car is in great shape. It needs a detail just to get all the swirls out but there are no dings and only 2 or 3 stone chips on the front. Interior is superb, very well looked after.

I've had a fab day - didn't get round to cleaning her, but have done about 150 miles, mostly grinning! Can't wait for a dry warmer day so I can give it some beans!!

Only complaint so far is a nasty rattle from the little "Enter" button on the sat nav control. No idea how to stop it either.

Oh and I wish that the wheels filled the arches a little more like they do on the S and V12's.

Other than that, she is epic and I've not even been able to press on yet due to it being rather icy round here smile

Nope same location & shape.
There are a few differences;
1) the coupe has no bulkhead to dampen the sound unlike the roadster
2) it also has the hatch to reflect the gearbox/diff noises back to the driver
3) in the roadster roof down you hear the noise directly from the exhaust outlets
4) 4.7 is ALOT quieter than the 4.3 even with the fuse pulled

Greg - that is very nice, I notice you got a switchable exhaust on it as well smile

Greg - you mean the 'enter' knob which controls whatever function is lit ??

If so, you sure it's pushed all the way in ?? May need a small piece of packing material in it ?? smile

Remove rear parcel shelf and try again. Satisfying increase in cockpit volume at no cost.

Lovely car mate. Nice colour combo too.

Does need a damn good clean and maybe machine polish though.

I remember you telling me that it was more than just the roof, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the other reasons.

Hence the IIRC bit smile

I'll try with the parcel shelf out wink

That switch on the steering column is for the front parking sensors which the dealer retro fitted for the previous owner. No switchable exhaust on the quicksilver, although I will get a switch fitted once the OEM exhaust is refitted.

I didn't know that a 4.7 is quieter than a 4.3 but it certainly seems to be, even with a QS Super Sport on it!

I may finally make use of this kit I bought 6 months ago - never used it yet! Bit too cold at the mo.
