So, went to start her up just now, key in, turn ignition, foot on clutch, red light on, press button, strange rapid ticking noise (electrical) followed by numerous warning lights. Tried a couple more times, now nothing, no red light on starter button, no system check, no warning lights except the red check light. She's not well at all........any ideas people? Drove her yesterday, no indications of failure whatsoever.

It's booked in for the 5th year service in 2 weeks time.......appreciate any help

Thanks,
Ray

Hello Ray,

I have read a very similar post to this some time last year. I am sorry but I cannot remember the resolution but if you search around you may find it.

Beautiful clean car you have, hope she's back on the road soonest.

Flat battery, How far did you drive yesterday , that clicking is the car not having enough power to turn over the starter motor , and after a few times trying you have drained what little life was in the battery .

Did you leave , lights on , not shut a door , boot open etc.

Thanks for the prompt responses. I see from the workshop manual that it's a 90AH, is this a standard purchase from Halfords? or is it a special?

P.S
Thanks John, I can get yours looking like mine too! laugh Although yours does look even more thug like when dirty!!

It's a brute!!

The DBS is for the gentleman thug and the V12V for the gentleman brute.

And shortly Di will pop up to slap me down!

As far as I know nothing special about the battery, I am surprised it is only 90ah. If it helps I just replaced my Mercs and I got one (Bosch silver 110 or 120 amp hour if memory serves me right) online significantly cheaper than local car stores,( main dealer was off the pitch, and was probably a Bosch anyway).

You need to know the terminal style and layout, the dimensions and the means of securing it for your online search - some suppliers work off your reg number to make it even easier.

Google is your friend- good hunting!

Hi Alan, Thanks for confirming the 90AH, I'm guessing that one with 800amps (more)will be OK?

Thanks
