Finally discovered that the foul/damp/rot smell which is present in the cabin of my 05 DB9 is emanating from INSIDE the drivers door. Originally I suspected it was from the cabin pollen filters/air con system.

Gets much worse when the window is down.

Has anyone encountered this before ? If so what is the remedy ?

All switches/controls on the door are functioning correctly.

If necessary is it much of a job to remove the door panel so I can determine just what is going on inside the door ?

The are drain holes in the bottom of the doors that can get blocked up , do you hear any slooshing of water .

Indeed.

Plus there is a LOT of insulation / soundproofing material in the door which, if wet, may not smell very nice.

I only know this because last year when closing my passenger door a lot of it came up with the window - promptly sorted out by Wilmslow smile

That title lends itself to a whole host of DB9 gags.

Yep drain holes all checked and clear.

Is there some sort of membrane covering the inside of the door which might have split thus allowing water to contaminate the material ?

I had a similar problem with one the other cars.I found a dehumidifier pouches or silica packs which absorbs damp smells a great solution. You can get from one of these web mags of household goods. see link
