Has anyone or does anyone know whether it is possible to replace the chrome strips around the windows on a DB9 Volante with Black replacements of some form or another?
I know its down to personal choice but i think it would make it look more sporty.

Would be very easy for a professional to wrap them and it shouldn't cost much either. That way you can pick your colour and you can offer to change them back for re-sale. AND you can always change them if you change your mind!

Cheers

Any car can be de-chromed using tape. A bodyshop owning friend showed me a BMW he had done for a client.
You could not tell it was not a factory finish.

That is what I saw used . But there is black tape and other black tape. Hundreds in fact. The finish I saw was excellent. But the chap that did the work was used to working to a very high standard

Honestly I think it will look tacky with the tape scenario.

Will either do it properly by getting sprayed or leave as is.

Thanks boys.

Saw it done on a nearly new seven series BMW. As I stressed it must be done by somebody competent . I could not tell it was not a factory finish.. The chap that did it was a pro and worked on supercars at the time. Me with a roll of tape and a scalpel would not get the same result

Thats why I have bottled out.
I can`t put an Airfix model together let alone get a bit of tape to lie flat on a chrome strip.
I have hopefully solved a problem though of the dim interior lights of a Volante.
I have ordered a couple of sets of LED bulbs to try out at a cost of £1.99 to see if they can brighten up the interior.
Next problem will be trying to fit them!!!!!!

Have a look on 6speedonline, there is a long thread about fitting LEDs to the interior

Hi, it can be done and does look amazing, mine have been wrapped in matt black, along with other bits on the car.

If done professionaly like mine they look like replacement parts rather than wrapped. Have a chat with Valet Magic in Ascot, they done mine.
