New Castrol Oils
Discussion
Owners who supply their own oil for servicing might be interested to know that Castrol Edge Sport has been superseded by Castrol Edge FST. I asked Castrol if we can mix both types as I still have an unopened 4L container of 40W-00 Sport and received this email:
Thank you for your email
These should be no problem using up the oil you have already got with
the new FST version as they will be miscible and compatible.
What I would suggest is that you check the fill date on the pack you
have as we have a rule of thumb of 3 years from the fill date, after
which we can't guarantee the performance as some of the additives can
settle out which canm compromise the characteristics of the oil.
As long as the oil is clear and bright, with nothing untoward visible in
it then I see no reason not to use it
