Hello All,

I've tried the trusty search but am not getting any joy.

Two issues I need to sort out:

1) Spare remote key appears to have a flat battery - can I just replace the battery or do I need to go to a dealer and perform a secret handshake / hand over lots of money to awaken it?
2) The drivers side handle LED doesn't seem to illuminate - anything simple I can look for or just wait for my next service?

As ever - thank you smile

Kris

Don't you have a handbook it shows you how to replace the battery in the blipper.

New door module for me when this happened on mine. Was covered under extended warranty.

Thank you - oddly enough it seems to light up at random points - so perhaps I've misunderstood when / how they come on.

Hi Kris,

When I first bought my V12V I emailed Aston customer services to ask if they could supply my handbook as a PDF. I wanted to know what I was doing BEFORE I picked up the car. They got back to me with the requested document within 48 hours. The upside of this is that I still have an imaculate, un-thumbed handbook (these things are beautiful!!!) and I find it somewhat easier to read on an iPhone/iPad.

I also asked them another couple of obscure questions (changing dash to KM and E10 fuel suitability) and they were just as quick at replying then.

ATB,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

That sounds useful..Could you let me know which customer service was it you went to? Presumably not the dealer and the one at HQ....and on another point, what did they say re:E10 and the V12? I tried to get an answer from my dealer last year and got nowhere...frown

Hi David,

Yes....As you suspected all the info came from HQ....The dealer was unaware of the PDF file's existance!

As for E10, they said no worries. I only asked after reading horror stories in the AMOC rag. My favourite pit stop in Rouen (France) supplies E10 and I was worried. I was relieved to find that is wasn't an issue.

ATB,

Kevin

My door handle did that recently and it was a warranty job. Oddly they replace the whole of the internal backing plate of the handle as the LED is siliconed into the handle. Gone are hte days of just sticking a new bulb in. I got to see a similar part on a different car and it didn't look hard to replace if I am honest.....

Funnily enough it seems to flash at odd points so it may be "how it works" or perhaps there is some button I need to press, still fighting my way through the instructions smile

I had the same, one light came on but the drivers door didn't. Works Service changed the module but the light still flashes at odd intervals when the door is shut and the engine is running. I did ask but...

...they all do that Sir? Part of the experience I think. Mrs Delta asked why they flashed but don't stay on to see the handles... Maybe I should write to the chap who signed off my car? wink

Just a bump on this - replaced the battery in remote and looks like it's lost the coding - apparently there are some magic codes needed or I'll need to buy 2 x new remotes at £200 ish + coding, so popping into my local AM dealer this weekend to take a look-see.

Anyone else had this?

Battery replacement in the alarm fob is dealt with in the handbook under " Remote Transmitter Battery Replacement ."

Reads as follows.

When the remote transmitter battery is low, the warning " Remote battery Low Voltage " will show in the message centre right.
Do NOT press the operating buttons during battery replacement. If the coding is disrupted , it will be necessary to have your Aston Martin Dealer re-programme the remote transmitter.
1. Remove the small grub screw and withdraw the key holder.
2. Remove second grub screw and then part the two halves of the battery case.
3.Replace the battery positive side down.Finger marks will reduce battery life.Avoid touching the flat surfaces of the battery and wipe the battery clean before installation.
4. Reassemble the remote transmitter.
5. Test the alarm system.

Cheers Runner,

Thanks for taking the time to write that up.

Unfortunately the key fob was dead for many months before I swapped the battery out (it was never used by previous owner) - so looks like a recode is needed.

Will see what my local dealer are like smile
