PCM NAV Itinerary Upload?
Discussion
Am I right in thinking that there is absolutely no way to create an itinerary offline on a PC, save it to USB and upload it to the PCM NAV? This would allow complicated multi-stop journeys eg Euro tours to be planned without having to sit in the car to do so, along the lines of the web interface for Tom Tom which allows route planning on a PC in the comfort of your home (albeit with the device attached).
I think it is about time that some bright spark took their dash apart and figured out how to integrate a sat nav like Tom Tom into the oem facility within the Aston........Maybe a piggy back system that would work from the controls but would not require irreversible changes to the cars electronics.
I am on the fence with the inbuilt one in that all inbuilt sat navs are basically obsolete by their very nature and not as flexible as the stand alone or pda/smart phone versions. I do like the split screen at different zooms and the traffic islands show up well.

I bought a top of the range, voice activated, free map and traffic updates for life, 5" garmin with live junction and slip road ID, for £180 quid a couple of weeks back.... It's bloody brilliant..... Until manufacturers get anywhere near this functionality and VFM, they can stick their built in Nav systems....
I dont care how good it looks popped out of the dash (I acually think it looks a bit crap to be honest, and would much prefer it not to be there at all) but Over £200 quid for update CD's that'll be out of date again in 6 months, doesn't strike me as the sensible option....

+1 as Slacker says they are out of date before the car hits the street.I dont care how good it looks popped out of the dash (I acually think it looks a bit crap to be honest, and would much prefer it not to be there at all) but Over £200 quid for update CD's that'll be out of date again in 6 months, doesn't strike me as the sensible option....
My S has the Garmin system built in but my 18 month old cheapo Tom Tom still knock socks off it.
The car guys would be better aligning them selves to one of the portable sat nav guys and building an interface into the car that would take the current model of portable unit and integrate it to the cars ICE & bluetooth
