Is the V8V outside temp gauge used by climate control?
Discussion
As per the title.
My outside temp gauge is showing 15-16 degrees C all the time (there was snow on my drive when I left this morning!).
It's irritating, especially at this time of year, but not a major issue.
However, does the climate control use it at all to gauge incoming air temp? I suspect not, but if it does it'd be worth booking it in to get it fixed. Otherwise, I'll wait.
It's a MY10.5 V8V by the way.

Mine did this too, used to show very high outside temperatures and I'm convinced it stopped the climate control working properly. Replaced under warranty, I was told it is quite common.
When I hear that I wonder if AM studies type and frequency of demand so they can improve their supply chain?

Not sure on your point here Chris
If the thermo has been corrupted then you definitely qualify for a warranty replacement - not long had mine done
My point really was that if all it does is show the outside temp, it's a minor irritation which I can wait to get sorted in the new year. If it does other things then it's more serious so I should try to get it seen to PDQ. Two weeks before Xmas isn't the ideal time to be wasting a day driving to and from a dealer if it's not strictly necessary! If the thermo has been corrupted then you definitely qualify for a warranty replacement - not long had mine done
But from the responses sounds like I may have to bite the bullet and get it booked in ...
I am aware that the outside temp often reads wrong on Astons and I was told it was due to the fact the sensor is too near the engine and gets affected by engine heat, but no mention was made to the fact it has an adverse affect on the climate control.
All that matters is the desired temp setting and the actual current internal temp. Surely the outside temp is just for informational purposes only?

It is. Mine's supposedly been fixed once, but keeps dialling up ludicrously high temperatures, kiciKing the air on into overdrive.
Is it??? That seems really odd to me - why would the outside temperature affect how the climate control needs to function? All that matters is the desired temp setting and the actual current internal temp. Surely the outside temp is just for informational purposes only?
