Man, that's expensive!
if anyone would be interested I'd be more than happy to spend a day coaching in exchange for a decent curry

Molly and I both did the PDC. £2000. all in. We collected a V12V plus a V8V from Newport Pagnell then drove to Millbrook which was a good start because we both got to know our respective instructors. The day was fantastic, lunch excellent all in all a brilliant day. I would heartily recommend attending.

You can get a day at Milbrook with Cadence for about £500.
Surely that does not include a V12V to drive? I don't want to put mine on a track...Also worth considering a one-to-one tuition day with Don Palmer who is a driving god.

I did a day at Mira Proving Grounds (similar place to Millbrook) on various circuits there. Invaluable to teach you about your cars handling, all very safe and no more stress on your vehicle than a spirited drive.

I am aware of the work of Mr Palmer.http://www.donpalmer.co.uk/

But I am not willing to drive my own car. Apart from driving into walls I take incredible care of my cars, I warm them up before driving off, short shift until I get the engine warm and basically coddle them. So not going to happen. But I do want to know how to drive it faster and see what the car is capable of doing...
On the subject of coddling them you shouldn't leave a car to warm up before driving off as this will cause more harm than good. Most of the wear on an engine occurs in the first few minutes, if you let your car idle the oil will come up to temperature a lot more slowly than if you drive off gently. That is why manufacturers always state in owner manuals that you should drive off immediately after starting the car.
Cheers.
