I know we are in tough economic times, but with the growing number of aston martin v8 vantages and some db9's coming down to "affordable prices" will we be seeing a lot more of these cars on the road and having said that will the aston lose its exclusivity seeing so many on the road ?
Just a thought
Since all the Astons that are dropping to affordable prices are used, I would suggest that you won't see any more than usual. There will still be similar (probably less) new ones manufactured, so won't be much of an increase. They aren't exactly the cheapest motor to run either, so I suspect a lot of people will be put off by that.
The DB7 has been affordable to buy for quite a while, but I don't see many of them on the road.

they are still not really mass production cars are they?
so theres 10,000 units in the world of the Vantage after nearly 6 years production...thats 10x less than Porsche sell in a year
Astons are a more common sight than Italian stuff ...but thats just down to the type of car, I really dont think a Lambo can used as a daily runabout to dump off at the airport etc, but lots of people use Astons daily ...hence the appearance of being "more common" when in reality they are not, its just that owners use them

I'm 26 and am thinking of changing from my T350 to a V8V
I'm trying to convince myself that running costs will be similar to a speed 6 TVR...
I currently save £250 per month to cover insurance, service, MOT, Tax etc for the year.
Would this need to change much if I did indulge in a V8V?

Some very quick guesses that are probably wildly out:I'm trying to convince myself that running costs will be similar to a speed 6 TVR...

Insurance: Best part of £1,000
Service: £1,000 dealer, maybe £700 indy?
MOT: What is it, like £100?
Tax: £450 and rising
So I guess you'll be on for about the same before factoring in the warranty or putting something aside for the worst.
Or you could just do what I done!! Take none of the above into consideration, go and buy one, enjoy it... And worry about the repair costs later... In all fairness I dont think that you will have much to worry about as far as repair costs go.. Just make sure you buy one from a main dealer with warranty, or one with an extended warranty, Oh and if you do buy private have it inspected before you part with any monies....
Even if you find it too much in the future, sell it on... At least you can always say you have owned one!

Fuel isn't really an issue, only do about 4-6k miles a year.
The TVR isn't exactly frugal either
If I did decide to get the V8V I think i'd go for the sport shift option. How much of a premium over manual are these cars roughly?
ASM1 came in on MY07 cars along with the roadster version. The TVR isn't exactly frugal either

There doesn't seem to be a premium on it.
ASM1 on the 4.7 is better as they updated it.
ASM2 is bloody great
