I have been been getting that buying itch that results in daily internet browsing.
I am sure thats familiar to many of you.
Probably like some of you I have been doing the Jag thing for a few years, its got to be a British heritage marque for me, so that narrows it down a bit.
I dream about an aston, but for the forsseable future the ones that float my boat, DBS and V12V, were out of range
Last time I looked V12V's were £100k plus, so I was surprised to see many now at £85K. I thought they were a limited production and would hold value more.
I am not a depreciation obsessive, lost to much over the years. But I am thinking that if I wait, would a V12v fall into my price window.
So where do the experienced enthusiasts think things will go.

they will always command a premium, and hopefully will never be more than 1000 units WW ...but 2 year old cars in mid £80k's from dealers now, so I reckon 3-4 year old could see mid-high £70K especially once some come on the market that have real mileage on them
put a 30K miler on the market when the majority are garage queens and it will have to have £10K off it to shift it ....we found similar getting rid of a 3.5 year old Sagaris that we had done 10K miles a year in ....people are funny like that, everyone wants a bargain, but if 99 out of 100 cars have done 5K miles a year and yours has done 10-15K miles for same age, you are going to drag the market down thats just how it is
Im likely changing my V8 next year and watching V12 prices too - its a real tough decision now

two major factors hitting values hard now
a) its winter and people dont like to buy cars like this when the weather is bad. (It was even snowing this morning!)
b) the world economy is dropping off the edge of a cliff with people predicting doom and gloom for at least another 12mths
however there are two factors to help prices firm up early next year
a) it will be spring and this will reverse the winter effect
b) production of the 1000 cars will have finished by then, meaning that the best aston in recent times will quickly become rarer than hens teeth.

I agree with what Adam has said. I think the V12 will fall more as they are still newish, perhaps to around £70k,I dont believe a dealer will give more than this figure now for an 09 car. But as time goes on they will start to creep up. I was surprised at the prices of a VANQUISH now! So its all about timing and if we have an economy next year!

My 2p worth...
If the economy tanks and we see distressed sellers then all bets are off. Some folks will simply need cash and take what they are given.
If the economy chugs along then I think for well looked after FAMSH V12V in sensible colours we'll see a floor at between £60k and £70k. The floor will hold until supply starts to dry up due to crashes and exports to the rest of the world...

I think the depreciation issue has escalated on V12V's recently, mainly due to the onset of winter and gloomy economic outlook.
It was only a couple of months ago I was offered £95,000 by a dealer as a px against a 2nd hand DBS. An inflated offer perhaps but I guess they would have been looking to achieve a minimum of £98,000 on the forecourt.
I wouldn't even consider selling mine now in the £80's.
So, not a great time to sell, but a very good time to buy I would say.
I think next Spring and scarcity of cars may well see the market moving back to where it should be.
