Car I am looking at ......how much is a new gear knob ? Is it worth replacing as it seems inevitable it will get damaged by a wedding ring?
Condensation in front headlamps....common issue? I assume that is sortable under warranty?

It's looking increasingly likely that I may be acquiring a DBS this week,so I may be driving you all mad with a few more questions.

I have not scratched my V12V knob, but don't wear a ring, not sure on cost to replace. Headlamps - all AML cars get condensation, it is not fixable even with the various TSBs.

I think from Aston Martin the price is actually nearer £900!!

However, they can be found on eBay and at Astonmartinbits for a lot less than that!
I don't wear a ring either but I haven't scratched my knob either.

There was also a bit of condensation on the bit where the key goes in,I found that weird, that is being replaced under warranty.

May be worth asking yeti to post a pick of his GEAR knob.

Sarah Maynard made it - looks more like a metal version of a 911 knob.

edited to remove further temptation from some...many?...most to make cheap knob gags. Or expensive knob gags....

LBS - in the forum sweepstake, you were 11/4 odds on to be the first to crack.

TBH I feel uncomfortable coming onto a thread which features the words 'knob' and 'ring'.

Hope nobody introduces 'crack' or Big Al will be on the move smile

If I write 'crack' and get Big Al to read this... Please make the spotted thread a sticky! Thanks!

I've come over all a-flutter...

Haven't got my SM knob installed yet, waiting on the dash to be finished and will install everything at the same time.

Pommehogster has one so pictures can be found on his 'time to get serious' thread. It is so, so much nicer to use, perfectly ergonomic for your hand. About a quarter of the Aston price as well!

As has been said, very odd. Wonder what could cause that, is there a crack in the slot? Are you sure its condensation and it hasn't been lubricated to make it easier to insert?

It's a very heavy piece of billet aluminium. It scratches fairly easily actually, I don't wear a ring either! But yes, it would polish out if it bothered you.

Can't you get a little leather cover for them too, for cold days?

What you should do is just get the TT2 option, no silly little stick to worry about smile
