Getting an itch to change the Vanquish .... But what to?

Hi guys, after some advice .... Posted similar topic in other forums to get other opinions too on other cars
i changed my 360 for a Vanquish last Nov, so the 3 of us can all use it, but now my mrs and 5 yr old daughter prefer going in the RRS so whilst it's nice for the 3 of us to fit ... It's not 100% essential.
Mines an earlier 53' Vanquish (I prefer to wait until they've nearly bottomed out to avoid huge depreciation, then buy) and whilst it is imo a great looking and awesome sounding car, it does feel a little dated + Im tired of seeing gearbox fault warning on dash for 2-3 seconds when I first start the car (a common niggle and Rick of DMS explained its just the sensor measuring before hydraulic pressure has sorted itself out).
It's an epic car, but if I'm starting to find gripes ... It usually means the itch to change is intensifying.
Options narrowed down to a DBS, a 612, or a Murcielago (c.£90k) ... Any thoughts appreciated!

I don't like tha Lamborghini ANSI coming from a true Ferrari fan te 612 is ugly!
I've had a DBS for a few months now and must say its awesome!
Better inside and feels more special than any 90k Ferrari , I even looked at stretching the budget to a California but the DBS just feels special.

What about a Vanquish S? Or maybe a V12V.
I wouldn't go for the 612 if you said back seats aren't essential. One of the ugliest Ferraris made, although it seems they are currently trying to top it with the current range. Have you looked at 599's? Earlier ones might just creep within budget.
I love the original Murcielago, looks much nicer than the later tarted up versions. No idea what they're like to live with though.

599 is fabulous. However, sat nav is an in radio job and rubbish - worse than AML so it really is saying something. HiFi is rubbish. Mirrors are not foldable electrically, which given the size of it may be be an issue. No cruise control.
I use my V12V as a daily driver and had the decision of either of a new 599 or new V12V. Discounts were available on both, although you mentioned 2nd hand. It came down to the better package the V12V presented for my personal usage habits. 599 was a better pure driving car, but the V12V provided a better compromise. V12V also sounds better.
DBS - I had a DB9 before and considered it to be just to the same as I had before, whereas V12V was a different direction.
Drive them all, make your own decision - only you know what will work for you! Personally I would not go near Vanquish - too many horror stories (whether or not to) of gearbox and clutch failures.

Paul - You may well have to rethink your strategy if you are even considering a DBS (or indeed a V12V). Neither of these cars are anywhere near the bottom of their depreciation curves and you will be paying an entry level - used - in the Mid-80s.Good luck with your decision

Hi Jockman ... "Bottomed out" is maybe a bit bold and didn't meant quite so literally ... In my mind an £85-95k (yes entry agreed) car has already lost a lot from £160-165k new.Good luck with your decision
My thinking is a 3yr old £90k DBS over the next 12 months and 5k miles per annum ... I guess would start to lose less, as time goes by, so in 2 yrs may still be worth around £60-65k then towards bottom of curve would lose a little less each year to around £50k base, maybe even down to £45k eventually but over a good few years.
All cars will lose money save the very rare ... I just don't like the huge depreciation hits that I'd invariably face with a much newer/new car, and having been stung by a balloon scheme a few yrs ago, I prefer to buy something without finance that someone else took the big hit on for that 'new car feeling' that isn't essential for me ... that was really my point.
May nip up to Stratstone Derby next week, they have a nice looking black DBS for £90k with quite low miles.

A £50k Vanquish to a £90k car is a jump up anyway ... Which the Mrs need not know about ... That extension she keeps harping on about or a new toy, is no contest, she can sit on my lap when we have the family over.
Back seats would be useful, and the more sensible option, even better if I can fit the golf clubs and trolley in the back.

Your figures are pretty sound Paul - reducing balance depreciation always shows the highest blip initially, though for some reason we always seem to view it in a straight line when talking retrospectively ??All cars will lose money save the very rare ... If the rear seats are really important, don't discount the Rapide or Virage. Those cars will soon be in your bracket along with a wonderful original warranty, something I cannot guarantee you will get with the DBS

The clutch of the Vanquish S is much stronger. The car feels tighter and the steering is 20% more direct.
I think it is the best you can chose. The last handmade Aston Martin, made in Newport-Pagnell.
The best would be a Vanquish S from 2007, the last year of production. From 2006, the Vanquish S got a new dashboard.
The Vanquish is such an epic car, you know it. But I promise you, the S really worths it.
The brakes are also better, the handling too. Just check that the clutch sensor has been changed. If yes, you won't have any problem with the clutch.
I guess it is the right moment to buy a Vanquish S, but also a Vanquish. No doubt that it will be harder and harder to find one of these in perfect condition.
No doubt neither that prices will increase... Just My 2 Cents.
