Well the time had come to let go of our 07' V8 Vantage, all I can say is we had an amazing time with it and apart from the usual warranty items the car was faultless.
So to replace the V8V we took delivery of an 08' DB9 TT2 with sports pack, the car is just different in so many ways from the V8V, I find the power from the V12 amazing and it makes the drive effortless.
I have some pics below and will try and take some better ones when the weather perks up!

Firstly congrats on a new purchase, a new Aston is always something to celebrate.
I had a feeling Michael would put a dig into the V8V as some sort of childs Aston!
Having been fortunate to own a V8V manual then a DB9 TT and now a V8V sportshift, I would like to highlight that in my view a V8 to DB9 or vice versa could be considered an upgrade or downgrade depending on what you want out of a car.
Both cars are brilliant, but do very different things. If you want a motorway cruiser in epic style with plenty of pace, and arent worried about blasting down twisty A or B roads, then buy a DB9 (though this is not a poor handling vehicle, far from it) or a Bentley GT or a SL63 AMG as alternatives.
If you want a sports car [and are under 60 :-)] that feels more 'chuckable' with a lovely sound and gorgeous looks, then get a V8V or a 911, Audi R8 etc.
Both are superb, but from my experience, totally different drives for different driving tastes.....
Enjoy the DB9, they are awesome!

All going well until you mentioned the dreadful SL63 AMG. That is a horrid barge. If you want a sports car [and are under 60 :-)] that feels more 'chuckable' with a lovely sound and gorgeous looks, then get a V8V or a 911, Audi R8 etc.
Agree with the rest. Or a V12V if you want something more epic :-)
I agree actually on second thoughts - the SL55 I drove wasnt very good, I was just trying to think of another DB9 competitor - maybe a 599 or Granturismo S?
If you could get a V12V with a paddle shift (couldnt really get on with a manual V8V due to suffering from mild sciatica) then that would my perfect car, I loved the V12 engine in the DB9 with fuse 22 unplugged.....

Peter, one day you too may feel it's time to come over to the dark side.
I can't. Our garage is too short. Oh and you can't get a bike in the back.A V12V on the other hand.......

I'm well under 60! and to be honest I'm not a huge fan of the 911, I have been fortunate enough to drive a 993 GT2 and 997GTS and don't get me wrong the GT2 is an animal of a car but the new ones just don't do it for me, as for the R8 I think it's one of the dullest cars around, and if I was going down that route I'd go for a Gallardo LP, but for us the back seats in the DB9 are a bonus to put the small people in!Jockman said:
From tracksuit to cravatte in one fail swoop.
I feel so proud.
Hope you can handle the increased power.

I'd say I'm half way between the tracksuit and cravatte in life!
Yep I can handle the extra power and have had the opportunity to drive more power full supercars, I'm thinking more power could be had maybe a BR exhaust system for starters? but the jump from the V8 is a nice step.

That was almost the deal breaker for us, but we had a frw inches to spare after moving the garage around.Yep I can handle the extra power and have had the opportunity to drive more power full supercars, I'm thinking more power could be had maybe a BR exhaust system for starters? but the jump from the V8 is a nice step.

I didn't say a child's Aston .......I said a boy's Aston I had a feeling Michael would put a dig into the V8V as some sort of childs Aston!

Most people in reality don't want to chuck their Astons about .......I have an Golf R32 for that, which is very chuckable.......my last car was an SL55 great car but agree very un chuckable ......my brother had an ML63 for a few weeks .....9mpg .......not good !
Looks lovely. Do you have kids? If so would b keen to know how you get on with the back seats as I'm contemplating getting a DB9/s next year (although probably not from my local main dealer after their ludicrous deal on my v8v after a few weeks of selling it to me - not all their fault but....).
