Ok, given that most UK V12Vs are now built and for curiosity as to just how much these great cars are being used, I though we could list our current mileages together with month of first reg to aid comparison:-

Jan 2010 - Dec 2011 : 5721 miles

Agreed, but would you really insure your V12V for less miles than you were actually doing??? If you make a big claim for sure they are going to check the mileage before paying out - assuming you still have the car that is! smile

I should hope not Adam, but I find some insurers try to pigeonhole you into a set figure.

Locktons - for example - are excellent insurers but they offer you 3 mileage levels, with the highest 2 being 5000 and 7500. There is a substantial difference in premium between the 2.

Imagine last year if you averaged 100-110 miles per week. Some may be tempted to go for the lower premium smile

Edited to say - unlikely they would know who you are anyway !!!!

Circa (notice the get out) 10,000 miles in the 12 months year of ownership - does that get me a prize?

A wonderful 10,000 miles, circa.....

Jockman - I was thinking about all of this recently and will be reduced to 7,500 miles for the next year ..Locks did offer three levels - 5, 7.5 and 10k, no?

(for those reading I promise not to pass this limit unless authorised to do so)

BTW moving to Lock's appears to have reduced my premium by 55%+ - shocking really and only myself to blame....(wish I knew how to use those animated gif things and then I'd be hitting my head)..

David, it's been 9 months since I visited insurance but I've just cut this from the Locktons/AMOC website....

"All Policies cater for annual limited mileage use of either 3000 or 5000 but higher limits can be quoted on request."

You're the first person insured with them for 10k that I've met so congrats on so many miles in such a great car !!!

At least it should be cheaper for you next year smile

A little over two months, 700 miles. Can't see myself doing much over 3000 miles per year, as all the long journeys will be with family in the X5.

Bloody hell, the ones in the classifieds are all high mileage cars compared to all yours here. No wonder no one worries if it does no miles to the gallon.

Just to be clear it's showing around 2700 in total now.

Hoping to add to that properly next year.

Prices appear to be nosediving somewhat, mid 80's seems to be enough for a decent example now.

How anyone in their right mind could pay £20k more for a new V8S is beyond me. Each to their own though I guess.

Just for amusement - ask your supplying dealer for a bid on your V12V.

Last few months seem to have seen either horrific book drops or dealers are cranking up their margin requirements. Not sure which it is.

Not sure that I would want to know having bought mine new at what was probably the most expensive time. I still intend to keep mine so depreciation, on an annual basis, wont look so bad in ten years time !

The book drop on mine for December was £3000 but prices appear to be even lower than that suggesting the current market place has over-supply which is typical this time of year.
Earlier this year book values rose after winter so "hopefully" this will repeat in early 2012!

By that reasoning Mako, now would be a good time to buy if history were to repeat itself.

If you look at early V12V resale prices, it is conceivable that dealers are paying in the 70s for them now smile
