Don't know about the tickets, but for me it'd be a no brainer..... TT every time
Last time I went to LM it was full of chavs and idiots..... Last time I went to the TT it was full of bike nuts and race enthusiasts
I've heard some horror stories about Le Mans, mainly pissed up dheads throwing water in cars, which obviously worries me since I'd be there in a convertible. That's why I was looking at the Aston Martin tickets, I suspect there might be less chavs in that group Last time I went to LM it was full of chavs and idiots..... Like Krisdelta, LM has been on my to do list for a few years, such a shame that it seems to have got a bad reputation recently.
Molly and I decided on Le Mans this year, not with AM but opted to go with Nicholas Mee Racing.
Part of the amazing package they offer is to stay at a Gite which is about 5KM's from the circuit. The drive down is fantastic, I would say that three quarters of the cars on the roads are Brits headig for the circuit. The comraderie is great. The speeds a little alarming ,160 plus at one stage. On arrival at the Gite we were greeted by two rows of gleaming Astons plus one of those Italian cars. Your car then sits there safely as 2 mini buses will ferry you back and forth to the circuit. Excellent food and endless drink was provided throughout our stay plus on the fist night we had access to the AM hospitality suite which we thought was truly great. Loads of Champers and stunning food.
The following morning was race day, we were provided with various passes which gained you access to the circuit. We had lunch overlooking the start finish straight by which time you are really getting to know other members of your party.
I do not wish to rattle on to much but must compliment Nick Mee and his team on a truly awesome time which was highly organised plus we were made to feel so very wellcome.
Shame what happened to Aston Martin but that's racing.
From what we saw of the camping "No Thanks"

The latest AM News states that the event on 16-17th June 2012 sees AMOC utilising 1st Tickets for the usual campsite in the Bleu Nord area of the Circuit and you can register your interest with Marc Aylott at asstsec@amoc.org
Classic le Mans on 5-9th July 2012 includes ferry and 4 nights B&B at Hotel Emeraude (£1150 per couple and car) or Chateau de Vauloge at £1500. Jasper and Drive Espana can be contacted through Marc Aylott again. Jasper seems to have a good reputation for these trips.
Jasper is also doing Rioja Ramblings in May 2012 - different price range though

I'm sure it wasn't with AMOC, but with AM themselves, it was in the Aston magazine earlier this year, I'll dig it out when I get home. I recall prices around the £1500 mark, but would like to confirm it before passing up my invite to the TT Classic le Mans on 5-9th July 2012 includes ferry and 4 nights B&B at Hotel Emeraude (£1150 per couple and car) or Chateau de Vauloge at £1500. Le Mans changed the year of some football tournament or other around 2004. All the thugs and morons who traditionally watch the interbnational football games came to Le Mans and for the first time it seemed that the enthusiasts and sports cars were outnumbered by transit vans packed full of tattooed scumbags kicking soccer balls around the campsites. I never camped again, driving past Maison Blanche some 'wit' with a supersoaker decided to drench the interior of my newly refurbished Marcos, paying particular attention to the instruments. This was not high jinks, he tried to cause damage. I couldn't get my seatbelt off quick enough to catch him - if I had, I am sure it would have been me on the wrong end of a kicking as there were dozens of shirtless howling morons surrounding the place with teir supersoakers. Around 2000-2001, the same drunken fun was going on, but the crowd wanted to see a wheelspin or hear an engine rev, then you got a big cheer. This has turned from enjoying the cars to envying the cars and I have seen cars kicked and things thrown, plus the waterpistols are now filled with beer quite often... or worse
Robgt (and Molly), remember when we were going to the circuit pre-race night for the Aston shindig? The crowd were trying to climb into the mini-buses, throwing things, shaking the bus and so on. Just drunks, but would not fancy driving my car through that. I camped at LM about 5-6 times, now I stay in a cottage about 40miles away which offers the best driving roads I know of, twice a day for 5 days. *That's* how I like to do Le Mans now, cottage, BBQ, wine, decent bed and shower. If you do that, it's a fabulous event! Get a grandstand ticket as well to avoid the hoi polloi and give yourself some shelter if the weather os too hot or it rains.
The Classic however removes that element of idiocy and to my mind is a superior event anyway. I stay in a hotel with the Pantera Owners club about 40mins north of LM and commute. Lovely experience, we tour the Loire the week before and it becomes a holiday with a race at the end. If I had to choose... it'd be the Classic.
But I don't have to choose, so for me it's two drives to Monte Carlo in Feb (research) and then April (tour leader), Monaco Historic in May, LM in June, Classic LM in July. I love my life

Now that sounds more like I had in mind! Still got the TT, LM, Northwest 200, Bathurst, Swedish WRC, Hockenheim DTM and a few others. Trying to get through one or two per year, but I always end up going to F1, MotoGP and BSB instead.
If not 2012, then in 2013 I will definitely attend one of the 24h races
