I was earlier filling up and stupidly got chatting to a guy who was admiring my car. The bloody pump cut out didnt work and I looked down to see petrol pouring out.
I got out pretty sharpish and I have hosed the rear quarter down as much as I can access. Is the spillage likely to do any lasting damage or will it just evaporate away?

It might strip the wax off, but no lasting damage I don't think.

You hosed it down so it should be OK.
As Soovy says it will have stripped any wax/polish off so probably worth redoing that area.
BTW glad to see you are out and about in it again! smile

I'm surprised you managed it. I always have to nurse the last five or so litres into the tank.

This wont damage the paint at all. You will get less to the gallon on that tank though.

I thought this was going to be another topping up oil overfill thread. :lol

As others have said, petrol splashed on paintwork won't do any damage.

My £85 bill on a not empty tank and petrol smelling trainers confirm I managed it. Probably stupid but I was quite nervous starting her up in a pool of petrol.

I'll have to get you to fill my tank for me, so that I don't annoy people by spending five minutes getting the last few litres in!
