My bespoke interior...
Discussion
Moves one step closer. Sarah Maynard sent me a couple of pictures of my panels... Lots more bits of anodising, polishing, replacing screws with posher versions and something she has in mind for the air vents...
Looking forward to it so much, the interior is where I spend my time so it has to be even better than the outside. Obviously one or two (yes, you two in particaulr know who you are!) will be disgusted/horrified/mystified by it, but... meh, what do I care! Unique and bespoke are my things

Your car is the perfect spec for a lovely burr walnut fascia, that would be my choice
That said it looks quite nice, reminds me a bit of the Spyker interiors. What's it made out of? Ally?
It's aluminium George, a theme I want to keep going with the whole car hence starting with Sarah's control knobs rather than keeping Tony's excellent stainless type. Chassis, body panels (mostly) and the interior now That said it looks quite nice, reminds me a bit of the Spyker interiors. What's it made out of? Ally?
Had the walnut when I bought it - I did like it but wanted something different to other Astons, and also with automotive history; when I was the Art d'Automobile exhibition at the Louvre, so many of those classics (Bentley, Merc SSK) had engined turned dashes and as you mention above, so do current Spykers as well as modern Bugattis and Paganis so it's still current. I have always loved engine turning (picture of my Marcos interior below) and asked SarahM if she could make one. She hadn't done it before but was game to try - it's taken a while but the results are amazing from the pictures. Hopefully it's going to look fantastic with the anodised switchgear, ashtray lid, gearknob and gearshift surround. She really can make anything you want, that's a true bespoke service
Marcos' interior - had it done probably 10 years ago, still looks as good as the day it was put in, doesn't tarnish!

I take my tartan hat off to you Yeti !!
I dearly hope it's the type with the plastic orange hair attached to it...I don't always do the same thing, 81 Turbo Esprit is about to come back on the road... Biscuit leather with black alcantara interior to accompany the 7 year body-off restoration. A car VASTLY superior to how it left the factory, every component replaced, refurbed or upgraded - I even replaced the engine completely with a hand built brand new 240bhp turbo unit.
So that bit is at least consistent!

They look great. Engine turning is the perfect blend of retro and modern. What about the radio/heater surround panel? How will that be finished?Looking forward to it so much, the interior is where I spend my time so it has to be even better than the outside. Sadly there isn't anything that can be done to that due to the laser cutting of the lighted parts. Not yet anyway, I will get Sarah a panel and see if she can come up with some ideas to make it blend in with the rest of the work. May have to make something up from scratch... It's is just the light up sections that cause the problem with modifying it. But where there's a will...George H said:

The only 12" wooden steering wheel ever made by Mota-Lita! It's a single seat racer wheel but had them make it up in wood especially for the Marcos. It's such a tiny car (880kg but with a 4.6 V8) that even a 13" wheel used to snag my legs. Not great for parking as you might imagine... But it's fast, makes you sweat driving it.The Marcos is very nice too, I love the wooden steering wheel, very cool
The Esprit is undergoing final paintwork polishing prior to having the gold pinstriping done to my design. Haven't decided what my exact design is yet, will pop down next week and decide But it's under it's own power at last! I likes some of the JPS styled Elises and Exiges of recent years so along those lines. Always liked the JPS colours, hence the (original BBS split rims) gold wheels.

OMG Lewis.....I absolutely love it! I came very close to starting a similar project a couple of years ago but the so called 'time warped' '87 HC I went to collect...wasn't! Such a shame. This is the only time that you'll hear me mention 'a bit tame' when referring to your upgrades
Mine from '87

JPS colours will look good, although in fairness, you will struggle to find a colour scheme to make an Eprit look bad. Bright yellow would be pretty nice
Aston Martin, Lotus Esprit.... You want to be James Bond, don't you?
