Anybody had a wrap for a year or so and can report on how they hold up to weather ,washing and wear ?
Has anybody actually removed a wrap - any damage to paintwork ,what does a removal cost ?

I have seen a few cars now that have been on for a good year and they still looked tip top... Have also seen a car after having the wrap removed and the colour changed, from what I understand it all depends on the quality of the vynal and the skill of those removing it...

I know there a few on here that dont like the idea, but I think its a fantastic thing. Loads of protection, a choice of any colour... Removable!!

Would wrapping a car affect the AM body panel warranty? I don't know much about the technology, but I'm guessing that the wrap uses some form of adhesive which would interact with the paint lacquer?

i had a V8 Vantage which was in the onyx black colour and i had it wrapped in Gloss White by a company called Tottally Dynamic in North London. I sold the car around 2 months ago but had the wrap on the car for 2 years and i had absolutely no problems. You just have to make sure you dont put a jet wash too close to the body as it will rip the wrap off however the weather change has no effect at all.

I drove my car everyday in the sun, rain and even in the snow and the wrap was fine. I did have a slight colour change happen to the bonnet however Tottally Dynamic give a 3 Yrs warranty and they changed it for free. Even if it bubbles up they will change it for free. I spoke to Scott at Tottally Dynamic and would reccommend him to everyone.

Hope this helps

If you're going to cover your car in a condom, why not go the whole hog and have "ribbed for extra pleasure" or "strawberry flavoured" just in case you ever feel the need to caress or lick your pride and joy !

Not sure about how wraps hold up, however I had a friend who had his car wrapped (not an Aston) and when he took it off over a year later it took patches of lacquer all over the car with it - and he had it professionally wrapped by a very reputable company!

Went to claim on the paint warranty and was told it only covered the paint - not the lacquer - very sneaky! If you Google it you'll see a few similar stories.

Anyway others may have had problem free experiences however just something to watch out for. Oh and if you do get it done, please, PLEASE, make sure you do the door shuts - it just looks awful otherwise.

+ 1 on the door shuts... Make sure the guarantee from the company who wrapps the car includes removal...

You shouldnt suffer from "aluminium rust", or its proper name - electrolytic corrosion, but seeing the V8V's have all-alloy doors and bonnet, plus the roof is bonded so no direct contact to steel to cause it.

I have used both cheap and expensive vinyl on V8V's and have had both cases where the adhesive leaves watermarks and reduces fade leaving a patch (number roundals for example). It really makes no difference - even if you warm it up to soften the adhesive.
Recently I was repairing a bonnet which had the "lipstick" line around the grille. So I could repair it properly I got one of the guys to carefully remove it. About 5 minutes later, rather sheepishly, he came over with a strip of green vinyl with the paint from the bonnet still attached...

Clear vinyl chip protection is one thing, but a colour change is an enormous amount of work. Im no pro at doing it by any means and it took me nearly 5 full days to decal a race car. Looked good in the end but it was on a race car - not someones p&j.
