I had new front and rear bumpers fitted and now the parking sensors will start bleeping when there is nothing there. Probably some calibration required. Has anyone encountered this?

Ive only had that when Ive had some dirt (usually dead bugs) on the surface of one of the sensors.

I think that mine is incredibly sensitive to any dirt. Usually by the second or third drive after cleaning the sensors are beeping away at me. It is fine when clean. Clearly the car likes to be seen at its best so it is its way to tell me to get the shampoo out.

On a serious note, can the sensors be calibrated ?

Yes - I had a similar problem.

The bracket holding one of them in place was loose so the circular sensor was picking up the inside of the bumper during movement.

Could tally up with the recent work you have had done ???

Pain in the bum job to get at the bracket as a lot of bodywork is in the way.

Definite warranty item if this is the case smile

I thought you didn't usually pay much attention to them if they were warning you there is something in the way tongue out

My rear sensors were replaced at 1st service because they were constantly giving one continual beep even after the nearby hazard had been cleared.

Had one front one replaced at WS. Was constantly going if car was left parked in the sun for a short while. WS couldn't find it, meant to have already replaced one, as sun wasn't out on the first trip to get it fixed so I diagnosed it myself....parked car in the sun....sensor goes off on its own with nothing in vicinity....so got watering can out (basic/crude I know but it worked!)and 'cooled' each sensor until it stopped. Good old fashioned COMMON SENSE

A pre-warning warning perhaps?

Back O/T - I'm not in blighty at the moment - could it be ice? (used to upset my M3's sensors no end) otherwise a wipe down should sort it, if not - back to friendly dealer!
