Goodwood FOS 2011
Discussion
Ok. I know it's early, although some tell me not too early. Want to make a weekend of this years FOS for a good friends 50th and neither of us have ever been before. Looking to go obviously in the V12V and make a weekend of it but just questioning if there is anything VIP'ish or what I should buy ticket wise; e.g some say not to bother with Grandstand tickets others say do...... Having never been after any advice.
Previously Ive been offered hospitality tickets but can never guarantee those!!
Oh and places to stay / camping?
Thanks

You'll be lucky to get anywhere really close by this time, but Portsmouth and so on are close enough - wherever you stay, there are still mahoosive queues to arrive and leave! Camping doesn't appeal to me to be honest but might be OK, would help with the champagne tent stuff anyway. I'm just not that bothered about it, Revival is much more my thing! I only go to FofS on the Friday, fewer proles and people with Formula 1 hats.
I use the Grandstand seats and if I were you I'd at least pay for one of the days, possibly Sunday as more people giving it the beans up the hill rather than the procession of Friday/Saturday. They do give you a vantage point and also shade from sun/rain if necessary. And a welcome seat, you cover a lot of ground in a day, a good few miles.
No idea how VIP stuff works there as I'm a GRRC member (*touch me*) so don't need it. Not much point having VIP unless you can drink the plonk you're offered, so camping might be the way to go!

Thanks for the reply. Would you or anyone suggest then maybe I should look to go to Le Mans instead for the weekend? Obviously not the same weekend ;-)
If you are going to one event in 2012, either Goodwood Revival or Classic Le Mans. Both are incredible, camping is far more acceeptable at Le Mans/CLM.I shall be doing all of them!
