Evening.

So, V12 number plates, what do you think? Good/bad/indifferent? Many on here have them?

My initials are MR and I've just paid next to nothing for V12VMR that I want to put on a V12 Vantage. Sound like a good idea or a bit naff? I've never bothered with private plates before.

Views?

Private plates are ok if they're subtle, I.e. Not spelling out some daft word or name or making it clear to everyone what model you have or the size or type of engine. I'd ditch the "V12" plates on that basis.

I've got D14 AMV and alternative plates DI 4 AMV. DI's my name so suits me. Die for AM Vantage!! Ive used the dodgy ones for photo's.

On retention Ive got D14 TVR for the same reason for my old Tuscan.

I don't however like 007 plates.

Just a personal opinion and so on...

I've always thought of personalised numberplates as being a bit like comedy ties. Just not for me...

Morning

Interesting answers, thanks very much.

I've always been of the opinion, it's an M5, why have M5 on the number plate?! Plates stretched and screws added to make a word when there really isn't one I find simply odd. No idea why I bought V12VMR, I think it was because plates seem absurdly expensive and this was only cheap so I don't mind if I don't actually put it on. I suppose I will know when I pick the car up and it tells me what it wants!

Many thanks for your views.

Could be handy to differentiate if we ever park side by side, I took your advice on my previous post and should be in a Hammerhead Silver V12 within the next 10 days or so, can't wait!

What does it matter what other people think... I think that a tasteful private reg always looks nice and V12V on a V12V is cool ...
Its plates that have been altered like you said with screws and dodgy letters etc to make them look like a word.

Im a sucker for private reg's Ive got 5 one on my Vantage and the rest on the work vans....

You have bought it so get it on there.....

No probs at all with V12 plates.

If you want to personalise your P&J so be it.

I have personalised sill plaques from TH and a non-V12 plate.

Some people like a specific colour, some like clear rear lenses, some even like putting great big lumps of carbon on their car.

If you are going to keep your car a few years a private reg I think makes sense concealing the age ( a lady neer reveals her age ) and a v12 plus initials IMHO is as good as any and sensibly priced.

It won't mean anything to a non car buff any your initials won't mean anything to anybody that does not know you - so why not a bit of harmless funsmile

Also helps to distinguish yourself from the track suit clad young whipper snappers in the underpowered Astonsbiggrin

I think within reason they add value/character to the car. I don't even mind the 007 plates although I wouldn't have one (except maybe on an old db5). Some can look a bit crap but it's usually down to font or spacing more than the plate ahanumerics. V12vmr would look good IMO.

Thanks for all of the replies, a healthy mix of opinion!

Yes cayman-black, it's replacing a 997 turbo, I didn't really settle with it, I work away a lot and the time I'm home is very important to me. The Porsche just didn't feel special enough, hugely capable, incredibly fast but just not the event I was hoping it would be, if that makes any sense. The Aston is so much more of what I'm looking for, raw and special and a real occasion, really looking forward to getting it all sorted and picking it up.

Cheers all.
