Recently changed Molly's Honda for a Golf GTI TDI and have now received the log book. Much to my surprise it states Revenue Weight 1920 KG Gross. The Aston is only 1910KG Gross. I am having trouble convincing myself let alone anyone else that my V8S is 10kg lighter than her Golf. I expect I am missing somthing.

A V8VS coupe is 1610kg. The Golf will be in the region of 1300-1400 I suspect. I'm not so sure what the weights listed are, but they aren't correct. smile

Only 1.2kg?! VW have done a really good job with the weight saving there wink

Normally I would agree regarding the diesel, but the Golf GT TDI is a fantastic motor. Fast enough, looks good and 50mpg. Doesn't sound the best though smile

Could it be someone has entered the engine cc as the weight?
We see many many V5's at work and the DVLA do make errors on the V5, sometimes spectacular ones!

Gross weight is a very different beat to dry or kerb weight. Feel free to check on my site, I list kerb weights, usually EU (which allows for 75 kg of driver) or DIN (which doesn't). Unfortunately the manufacturers are mostly not very good at specifying which they quote, but where given the choice I use the EU one.

I am currently 85 kgs.

Tonight I am treating my wife and I to a curry and a bottle of Lirac, after which I expect to be 89 kgs.

Tomorrow I shall be at the the Cheltenham Gold Cup walking off any calories, reducing my gross weight back to 85 kgs.

Just thought I would share that with you biggrin

I suspect the 9 should be a 3, likely a data input error originally. 1320kg sseems spot on for a diesel Golf.

Curry and a good wine are not the best of bed fellows in my humble opinion. Several pints of fizzy larger or preferably good ale enhance the taste especially when consumed in advance beer The over-ordering then doesn't seem so bad either. Doggy bag of left overs for breakfast goes down well too. Weight takes a little longer to subside though…. smile

Perhaps it was a maximum load weight that was listed? Fuel and other liquids, the driver, passengers (up to four in the golf), safe luggage mass, etc.?

Agreed, Monsieur Lime.

It was actually a swordfish curry too - on the speciality list but can't remember its name.

Tried a Michelin Star Indian in Mayfair a while ago - the Tamarind if I recall correctly - you went downstairs to it and it had no windows but the food was fabulous. We were staying in the Halkyn hotel, having been to Buck Palace for a Garden Party, and this hotel actually houses the only Michelin Star Thai Restaurant in Europe. Very nice too. The highlight however was the 2 Star 'Square' which without doubt is the best restaurant in which I have ever eaten !! smile
