Is anyone aware of whether you can get skid plates to fit under the front of the Vantage as when I move on and off my drive I occasionally ground out very slightly. I'd far rather grind away some sacrificial skid plate than the front of the car!

I've tried the search on here and also google but no luck in my hunt, hence any advice appreciated.

you sure its not your front mud flaps? ...of course I mean "stone guards" wink

I often hear similar getting on/off the drive which is on an incline, but its just the bottom of the flaps

i wouldn't worry about it, the plastic rubbing strip along the underside of the front spoiler is easy to replace and costs about £50

If you make any progress let me know. The c/f front splitter on a V12V is £4,000 for the part alone, don't want to wreck it (again)...

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember when I went underneath a Vantage on ramps at WS there were a few bolts which are often the 1st to get scraped over humps or exiting a drive etc.

Yep, round headed bolts. But they are not really a great sacrificial barrier, too few and far between.

You're up early - must be bored and wanting to get back to work!

You are not wrong there John, I'm bored stiff. Its nice to be able to use my car for something other than commuting though. Consultant reckons end of November, so I'm counting the days.

The whole bumper isnt that much! You can get it in pieces, the upper is around £700 and the "carbon" part is (subtracting from the price I got a complete one for) circa £2k. Well overpriced IMO for what it is.
I cut 2 damaged ones in half and stuck the good bits back together, saved the owner a small fortune!
You can quite safely rub these down an lacquer them to remove stone chips etc.....

The 4.3 trim under the bumper is really poor in design and is only there to cover up where the alloy under tray meets the bumper. Do be aware though if the noise is as you traverse a kerb, it may be the front crossmember, and that the oil filter is just a few mm above it. Had a few instances where filters have been knocked loose or cut (not on the road admittedly)

They are in front of the tyre wink
They are air flow disrupters and always the first thing to scrap
As others have said plastic and easy to replace

Hmm, I'll have to get the Mrs to watch next time to see what is actually grounding as you've now placed doubt in my mind!
